Its insurance chaos with the 182.
My first quote with Direct Line told me there would be NO difference between a 182 and a 182 with Cup Packs. The only difference is a rise of £20-ish due to the fact the car is newer and its a 182.
When i called back to take out the policy, i spoke to a different guy. When i said it had the Cup Pack, he asked for clarification. When i mentioned what the Cup Pack was, he stated it is now a modified car and my insurance would go up more than £20. I argued the case and said it is a manufacturers fitted option, and not a modification.
In the end he put me on hold while he confirmed with the under writing department. When he came back he confirmed it is not classed as a modification as it is fitted by the manufacturer.
There seems to be real confusion between how different insurance companies, and individual operators interpret the Cup Pack. My 182 costs me around £20 more to insure than my 172 did.
There was an option to record it as "sports suspension as fitted by the manufacturer" or something along those lines.
