cup splitter?????

  mini cooper (RIP 172)
right 1st i like the look of the cup splitter (got one on my 172 ff;) )

but the cup is a striped out 172, yes!!

so why put extra bits on like the splitter, it's not weightless is it:rasp:

i know the idear of the splitter, to push more air over the car... ect to get more grip! but it's not goin to make any diffrence is it? the brick like shape of the clio could be changed for this:eek:

so it's just for show, but goes against the cup idear!

any one else agree or is it just me been a tit?

lol have u ever actually felt the weight of one mate? its not like its adding pounds to the car!! light as anything as its only made from plastic. Im assuming its there just to give the cup a more aggressive look

  mini cooper (RIP 172)
yer i know its not huge but it is adding pounds (only 1 or 2;) )

but the cup has even got a lighter wind screen!!! how much dose that save?

you could argue that the cup spoiler adds more weight because its bigger than the standard 172 one. Think you're missing the point though mate, they didnt just create the car to be as light as it possibly could by stripping absolutely everything off it, they wanted it to look good too and aggressive lol

Splitters are used for 'downforce' in the corners arent they? therefore they improve handling abilities

yer in f1 cars! that have massive ones!! but on a clio, i think it's not goin to make a diff:eek:

but i do get (and like) the cup, but the splitter is just for looks int it? thats what i was gettin at:rasp:

it's just coz ive seen a cup (thats also used as a track car) with out it, and thought has it been taken off? or broken off

  172 Cup (Iceberg)
Most of them were badly fitted from the start and fell off. Mine has fell off.

a splitters purpose is downforce so renault would claim thats why they added it to the car
