Anyone know whether its possible and if its a big job to convert a standard dynamique suspension brake setup and brake setup to a 172 cup suspension and brake disc setup?

weight will be off as well as the cup springs are designed for a heavier engine?

I aint that bothered about the suspension really just want the cup brake setup so I can have rear brake discs, would this be an easy conversion or is there a cheaper alternative than buying the cup setup?

You can get both better suspension and brakes fitted aftermarket than Cup or 172 stuff.
As Fred said FK coilovers or similar and 4 pot brakes will do better tha Cup stuff.

why no need for rear discs and whats the best 4 pot brakes to get at a reasonable price?

a 1.2 doesnt need rear discs, if u want to adjust the rear braking ability, theres a screw u can turn. i presume u want it for the looks though??

I dont have a 1.2, how have you got 250-280bhp from a 1.2 then?

the Phase 3 1.6 16V dynamiques have rear disks if you wanted to use them for your conversion.

as said though there is no need for rear disks, drums stop just as well, infact better in some cases im told but the disks last longer before they fade for on a track etc.

the brakes on my 1.2 16V are lethal for standard, and my disks are needing changed too! ive been told that using good flud and some good pads makes a nice difference too.

as for suspension just get eather coilovers if you have the money or just shocks + springs.

Mark at Rickspeeds kit is the best value it uses the stock disks (you can use 172 ones if you want with the different caliper bracket)
Drums at the back are fine they don't do much anyway. Plus they don't stick ever morning, cheap to replace and dont get rust on them if you leave them for a few weeks. I wish my WIlliams had drums on it and I use it for track days.

It would seem so yes.
Noone has tried it though but since you can 172 setup a normal car with drum rears and still have ABS it would apear that both drums and disks use the same number of rear teeth for the abs sensors.
Whilst everyone on here (including me) has said rear drums are fine I've just had my car back and at 54k my drums are 80% worn (been through 4 sets of front pads) and they have cracked due to excess heat. I've driven the car harder than most people ever will but have only 65hp so whilst disks probably arn't ever needed for track work you do need to change the drums more often (I'd guess ever 30k or so depends how you drive etc) and the only way you'll know if there cracked or need changing is if you strip them down. At least with disks you can easily see if the pads are worn and they won't crack like this under heat.
