Cup with Climate Control Official

nobody is debating that teh rallyes, club sports, ITRs etc arent fab cars, include the cup in that.

But like the topics says, what the hell is the problem with offering aircon with a cup!

If you dont like, dont buy, when i havea fillet o fish i ask them to make me one without the odd sauce, paying more for less, hell yea, but i wont puke!

half the time it is down to driver ability and nerve.
Cigar to this man!

i dont know how many will be upset when lesser cars get by you on the track where your diving skills show up, and well......if your lacking, no cars gonna save you.

TIMO my man,

long journys will give a much better audio experiance and less road noise for two other betters. Oh and the general ambiance.

Ben is right in what he says "SALES SALES SALES" not outright performance gains. Proven facts are that there is bugger all between MK!/2 and a tiny bit between them and cup. Remember the MK1 has far more body roll and other changes in the MK2s induction make it totally comprable. To that point so is the cup VS others. It may get round a race track slightly faster, but not enough to notice on the road.

No real money went into the development other than a tiny tweak to caster angle WOW!!!!!!. The rest is cut cost and let us make more money. (Wheels and colour are different granted. Where else is there a difference other than weight ( which is not enough to make it in a different league)

When it was said that 172 owners would now probably have a CUP I doubt it. Truth is the CUP owners have gone on about ideals that have not materialised. (homologisation, special upgrades etc. etc.) when at the end of the day all the mechanical and engine management are identical (bar castror angle)

Surely it is CUP owners who would want something else!!!!!!!

PS love this madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is why ims till waiting for proof that they use diff shocks, springs and LMAO tyres!

cause they dont, the only tweek was the castor angles which also acconts for the 3mm lower ride height at the front only.

PS...me too :p

Could i BEEEEEE any better!

ncie to see you stirrign it up.......i need more people on my side! muahaha!

Ive come from a Ren19 1.4 so ive never had air con and abs to miss. If it wasnt for the cup id never have been able to afford a new hot hatch. most probably gone for a Focus or Polo GTI second hand.

Cant be bothered. Renault lied. Spec is bull sh*t. Mk2 172s are better, I wish I had aircon.

PS I really miss the under passenger seat storage compartment.

Ben R you are right.

what under seat storage, that is where the auto changer is. Isnt one on driver side either

TimO cant see the obvious insert. Take it must some sarcasm

TIMO, dont go spitting your dummy out my son! Its only different peoples opinions, thats all. I mean, what a boring world it would be if we all agreed with each other, had the same choice in everything, i mean you would be driving a V6 and id be sha***g your misses!!

  BMW X5, Exige 260.

Funny how it is always the non-Cup owners who turn sour and unpleasant in these threads............. it just smacks of envy.

At the end of the day it demonstrates that the Cup is so much more desirable than a standard 172. It is the Clio of the moment, more so than the irrelevant, flawed V6 even. It is the enthusiasts Clio of choice. A passengers worth of weight advantage...improved supension rates and geometry...ultimate brake feel...the focus is on performance.

BTW, If i want air con, abs, quietness and comfort, Ill get out my pipe and slippers and take my wifes Merc to work instead.

I currently drive a 1.2 dynamique but have ordered a cup which should arrive in a couple of weeks. question to all really, must admit this talk of ABS is putting me off slightly, get the impression Ill drive it of the forecourt and the thing will lockup and Ill end up writing it off. Honestly guys have I made a bad choice?

No. They are great cars. But just be aware of the lack of ABS. You just need to learn how to brake properly by pumping the pedal and there fore not locking up!

I doubt I would be driving a v6 I would be driving an Evo 7 and on top of that I cant wait to take some v6 Scalpls at York next time, didnt get chance to race the one last time.

+I have a bit of a secret up my sleave as well...

Very nice too. You seem to have me all wrong. I love all clios, ive had five including my current V6. New vee turning up later in year, hopefully that will keep the cup from the back door. What do you reckon??

hope so, I reckon the cup with a few choice tweeks would give a new v6 a run for its money, be interesting to see, I would really like to give it a go on track and up the strip, are you going to York RWYB on 25th

Ive been doing a lot of research on the cup. Simple fact is the standard 172 is out of my price range. I would like the xenon lights not too bothered about the air con though. Is there a compartment for a spare type on the cup even though you dont get one? I order my cup about week and half ago - Im hoping Ill get the recirclation and pollen filter.

Whats the cup like on petrol as you will all know the clio 1.2 16v has excellent fuel economy. dont wanna sound sad but seems like alot of you guys/girls whoever know about the 172 and cup.

Am I getting a good car that I can depend on, wont be using it for track days just as a every day car. Help me!!! am I making a mistake buying a cup.

Not going to York , but going to Bedford Autodrome on the renaultsport trackday at the end of June. TimO are you going on the trackday??

Was going to but not anymore, hoping to do trackday soon when funds allow, some some little bits to do before then tho, at York on the 25th tho

timoTEH,

Do tell, What can U possibly have to make any real dif Are U Stig? No IK, chip ,map will give U any real advantage.

Def NO SOUR GRAPES on mine or Bens (I beleive) part. Said at last post, "CUP owners seem disappointed in the lack of "specialism and promised upgrades"

That is a fair assesment .

To me having driven MK1s/2s and CUPs (minimum two each) Sounds daft, but it is now the company standard. People have listened to how good theese cars really are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BITCHIN@ is not the way to go

ZOOG. thanks for the comments. However, it is the CUP drivers that try to differeniate and give the VOICE. I would love to be Nick and some of the guys I have met who take things seriously & actually know about the performance stakes.

Co. cars are a no go ( me out for two years)

For me, I am an old man (comparatively) and can not understand the nonesense some CUP drivers utter.

I am not into the "emotions, LOL, IMHO", say it how you see.

To me only proves the point. I do not critisise a choice, only the people that believe mailto:bullsh@t">bullsh@t and then say BLAH BLAH BLAH

PS I LOVE A GOOD DEBATE!!!!!!!!!!

PS. any guys/girls ever seen a 1.6 Escort humiliate a Porche 911????? (this will not in any way involve tracks!!!! just road work)

£500 for a service on a 172, is that after 2 years from new of a major service. what do they do for that? do tell me they simply change the old and filter.

these posts are so sh*te its untrue..does it really matter for christs sake....cup is quicker and cheaper normal 172 fast enough more expensive....why dont we talk about the lad conversion not been a post about this for the last 10 minutes lol....at the end of the day driver ability accounts for everything no matter wot you drive...i once had a vts and went to york once and this professional driver beat everyones time around the track in his 1.0.......ps someone please buy my p**n on the for sale thanks;)

I have cup and I like it, my money my choice and its my arse that gets into it everyday.

What worries me is peoples over reliance on ABS yes its a great saftey tool but dosnt mean your god. The risk factor is still there. People with ABS do take greater risks, but then I dont drive around saying to myself "no ABS no ABS no ABS"

Bored now:sleep:

kwsus22 - everything great mate apart from a stain on the passenger seat very slight as the salesman spilt his bottled water on it..git!!!!!....once you drive it mate you will realise it is the best thing you have ever purchased dont worry mate you made a good choice...abs is only needed if you dont like running people over unlike me i have already destroyed 6 elderly pensioners...not a better sound than b0ones crunching the bonnet lol
