Custom/Standard Engine Loom Questions

  TrackCar & F30 330d
I have my standard engine loom out of the car and i am thinning it out so i have a few questions.

Speedo - I belive the sensors that are over the ABS rings work the speedo in my car. Do you just need one or do all four need to be connected for the speedo to work?

Connector on the brake fluid tub - what does the connector do? As i've deleted the ABS and am using a brake bias adjuster so why would i need any brake wiring at all? (Apart from the brake lights)

any help would be great.

i've never tried running the speedo with only one sensor plugged in, but i imagine it would work. It certainly keeps going is one is sensor is faulty. In theory you could run the speedo from your Omex ecu if you gave it a road speed input (possible with one sensor), but i've not tried it personally.

Plug on the brake reservoir is for fluid level. when the fluid drops it brings on a dash light

That excactly the info i was after thanks Danny.

Now you've just mentioned it i rember Tony and Jays race car used a ABS sensor to work their speedo via their new ecu. Might have to go throught their project thread and find it.

I think they only have a speed sensor for the pit speed limiiter, which isn't working yet AFAIK. We actually made a quick release loom for the stock dash to check the fuel gauge LOL. Dont think it has a speedo

Oh right, I've actually hit a bit of a snag. The two front abs spensor cables go into the ABS unit and as i have got rid of it then i have had to get rid of the sensors.

I'll have to find a new way of doing it :(

See the connectors are very dirty so they could be near the bottom of the car?

Arrrr yes thats the ones.

The sensor which is in the decat pipe goes to the new omex loom (not made yet) but i think the one in the mani is still attached to the standard loom?

Will i still need to keep this loom?

Can you no just get s second hand gb sensor and run the speedo off that. Reprogramming takes seconds.

Yes that's possiably somthing i'll try doing. I'd have to find a wiring diagram for the Gearbox sensor speedo set up.

I also cant remember what this sensor does. So once again can anyone helo with this one?

Does anybdy know what this box does? It attached to the standard interiour loom and has >ABS< stamped into it front and back. So does it just do somthing to do with the ABS or does it have anyother jobs?

Thanks

The ABS stamp is probably the type of plastic tbh, quite common for plastic housings to have it stamped on, my dads company makes similar and they stamp the type of plastic onto it... does it have any relays on the other side?

Did you remove it from under the glovebox area? Looks very similar to the UCH i got with my Ph1 loom - although its probably a newer (ph2) one. If thats the case it controls the immobiliser, lights, dash, wipers, central locking etc....

Oh right, yeah i got it from around the gearbox. Its a shame i have to keep it really as its so big.

F0xy do you know that the other other connector is that in the picture before. The three pinned one?

Looks like something from the Aux setup but im not sure - what pins does it go to on the ECU connector and il look it up

Cant find my Ph2 file on here, il have to have a look later on. All I can find is one of those pins is pressure sensor related apparently
