cutting out again

  Range Rover sport
had a few problems a day or so ago! with oil etc!
engine cutting out at 3500rpm, oil level topped up and running fine!

tested it out on a quiet road where i could put my foot down and had no problems what so ever!

but ....

driving home from the gf s this morning to find the same problem!
driving sensably for about 20 miles or so .. someone crawling infront so over took changed down to third and at 5000rpm or so its cut out! :S how can it change from 3500 to 5000??

i mean otherwise it runs perfect no horrible noises, no oil leaks etc ..

phoned renault up soon as i got home and tbh they had no idea! spoke to 2 people and niether had a clue what it was! they said they have never had this problem before in the 'however many years theyve been working there for'

someone suggested coilpack or something yesterday? what is this exacly and what does it do? located where on a 1.2 16v??

plus , sorry to have seemed rude on the 'NO OIL' thread was justed abit pissed off! problem after problem with this car!

Thanks

Nathan

might sound mental but try getting renault to reset the cars parametres. Mine used to cut out not the same way but had it done and never had any problems since. *touch wood*

You could spend lots of money trying to find what the problem is. Certainly wouldnt go by posts on here as without seeing the car no one could be 100% certain

Sure my local dealers didnt charge for a diagnostic check in relation to trying to find a fault... few years back tho.

phoned up this morning mate! they said i can book it in for an auto diagnostics but theres a fee of 81.50 i was liek urrm think i ll leave it thanks! mite be a small price to pay to you lot! but since im learning and not working yet its quite expensive to me

i no lol! but i know a lad that used to work at renualt and hes got his own garage only specialised in renualtsso guna tke it there see how much he charges!

Bit of a coincidence, because the MOT tester at my m8s garage worked for Renault in north wales for around 20 years - that guy knows his sh!t. I'll PM you his number tomorrow. Its worth a shot m8 as if you take it into a dealer they'll pull your pants down. Shame your not in the midlands.
