D40 settings question

call me a r****d, but I cant seem to get the camera to continue its numbering sequence after the memory card has been cleared, in other words every time we take some snaps then take them off the card the next batch have the same numbers and end up needing to be in different folders.

anyone know how to change it?
its doin my head in and i have been through all the menu's.

the only way you will stop that is by buying a bigger memory card and keeping them all on it, rather than formating it.

I'm sure there is a setting, on my D50 it goes up to DSC_9999 before resetting.

In the Set-Up (Spanner) area of the Menus I have a 'File No Seq' setting, I'm 99% sure this is in the D40 menus.

thanks ukaskew, sure enough its in there buried in the CSM/setup menu. oh and my wife loves your website, its her D40 btw.
