DA products.

  Titanium 182
I wouldn't normally post in here for fear of invoking JD's wrath (Haii! x)

But I'm stuck, I'm picking up a Porter Cable DA this weekend along with pads and I need to know what products I need to buy with it, for my swirly BG 182.

Polish / cutting compounds or whatever they're called, not a clue like. Don't want anything too heavy because the car has been polished before but whats the best on the clio's paint ?

Cheers for the help ;)

:(

;)

If you haven't done this before, you need to watch someone, then buy. If you are willing to come to mine, I am happy to spend a couple of hours on the car, with you doing it, me teaching. If you're nice.

Alderley Edge chap, why don't you come to the Deadmau5 night out? Going to do Joe's Trophy on one of the days.

Cba really, do I really need training ? I've watched loads of youtube training vids and it looks no too bad tbh (I mean if Luke can do it..... ;)).

I have scrap panels I can practice on too!

Just want to know which products to buy to start off :rasp:

Lol. OK.

I would go with Menz products as they are better than most. Ali will say 3M but for a n00b I would suggest against this.

Menz Intensive Publish and Final Finish are a good starter kit lad :) Then usual sealent, wax etc.

What pads have you bought, my apprentice muhahahaha.

I know I'm a lazy git but manc is like proper effort and I don't like deadmau5 :rasp:

OK. You'll need an extension cable as well mate. That one will not see you around the car. Screwfix, 15 quid, maybe less.

Those pads are fine for now. Blue is finishing, yellow is cutting, white is buffing but barely use them. I will find a link for you for IP. Should be on the I4D site :S

Aye I've got a few extension cables knocking around somewhere, have a garage to do the work in so it pretty much just has to go round the car.

Paint is swirly no gonna lie but I'm nervous about damaging the clear coat, Steve who I got the car off I know has machine polished it in the past.
Do you reckon I should go with a more aggressive polish ?

Will get a pic later :)

I really don't know without looking at it mate :(

And by extension cables I mean with the US plugs from the transformer to the PC cable. Not from UK plus to transformer, yeah?

  Titanium 182
No bother I'll get a picture up tonight or something!

Ahh I see what you mean I'm gonna have to lug the transformer around the car with me, aye I'll just put a bigger wire on it :rasp:

Do you have any pics of the swirling?

PO85RD won't do anything to BG, so if your aim is to correct, then you need 203S minimum. I4D does a 3 pack with 3.02, 203S and 85RE - get that as a starting point, and I'd suggest the Menzerna pads too, which work really well by DA.

BG is a pig to correct by DA though, so don't be too disheartened if you don't get anywhere at first.

Also, if it's been machined before, it'd be prudent to take some paint thickness reading to ensure the cc hasn't been hammered already
