DDR3 Tri better than DDR3 dual ?

  Not a 320d
Obviously, it is. I went with an i5 750 and 8Gb of DDR3 Dual channel ram with the system i have now.

Thinking of the next upgrade move towards the end of the year already (If the games like Crysis 2 give this system a serious run for its money) and im beginning to wonder if there will actually be much of a difference between DDR3 Dual and Tri. Is there?

Or should i just upgrade my 5870 and make do with the components.

1 extra channel wont improve gaming performance dramatically. but wil increase performance on multimedia apps and CAD apps. but even so not worth the outlay.

The i5/i7 range of cpu's which use P55/H55 chipsets (LGA1156) only support dual channel architecture. You can't just stick triple channel memory in there, on the misguided assumption "Tri" must be better than "Dual", and expect it to work.
