Dead phone line

Bit random but here we go....

Came back from my usual weekend away in the Southwest, and couldn't find my cordless house phone, assume the battery was flat after i'd left it off charge since thursday night.

Turned the house upside down to try and find it but no joy, so popped to Tesco and purchased another one. Its not been on charge for 4 hours and whenever i pick it up the line is dead?

I assume my line is fine as the broadband is working perfectly, any thought?

I mean, if you've lost the other one, maybe it's in 'dial' mode. Does that make sense? :S lol

Check outside for ninja's or the mafia... they usually cut the phone line before they break in and execute you...

Have you unpluged the original phone and tried the new one on its own?

Don't think so. The old one rang a few times. The base unit and the phone usually ring together, but when it rang only the base until made a noise, which would indicate the phone is dead.
