Don't do it Daz, R26 all the way. I've been driving Donny_Dog's today, it's in a different league to any Clio. The best bit about the R26 is now the price, lads on MS are being offered 13k trade in!

Having driven Shiny Autos fettled 197 back to back with my car, I was disappointed speed wise.

Ok, heres the spec...

Racing Blue
White Speedline wheels.
Xenons
Auto light/Wipers
Electric folding mirrors
Enhanced sound system

I think that was everything! :)

i think the car/wheel colour combo will look rubbish! ;)

you should know mate! :rasp:

You coming to the meet Giles?

which one, you mean tomorrow?

Nah I meant the one on Friday night Giles, over near Rivington.

Speed wise it wasn't all that amazing and I did miss the 1st gear pull of the 182 but having said that it felt a whole load more solid, better put together and more of a 'car' rather than a 'toy'
Also the 6th gear is nice when you get upto motorway speeds.

Agreed it isn't as raw as the 182 but I felt that it was a great car with a decent engine :)

go for it daz

you only live once

I shall keep you informed Sarah :D

to be honest mate, I wouldnt get into debt for the 197... its just not worth it.

Ive always said if you can't pay cash you can't afford it.

If that was the case I'd never have had any of my cars!!

I'd say if you can't afford the monthly repayments, you can't afford it. 9k on 0% apr over 4 years is only £187 a month - very affordable.

I would go for r26 if sticking to renault. i have driven the 197 and even though it is more solid inside, the rawness has been taken out compared to the 182.

Up to you though, but I wouldnt get into debt for 4 years over a 197.

Personaly, I don't think 16k is good value for money when purchasing an R27, but hey I purchased a vee from new, three times, so who the hell am I to comment?

dude these things depreciate like mad in the first year. 6k atleast

there was a dude on here sayin that he got a 10k trade in price after roughly a year ownership. if you have to get one wait a year, your 182 wont depreciate to less than 6grand imo and if you can score 0% finance then... then its a gud deal.

Yeah you have a good point.

But........... you can't beat that new car feeling! ;)

'Trade in price' isn't the true market value though as private they'd still sell for £12-£14k spec dependant.
But, you have a very valid point as does Jay! :rasp:

Daz if your prepped to travel to Scotland I have just been offered an even better price, £14,900 fully loaded (all options, including metalic paint).

Dont do it!!! The new car experience aint that great. I got sucked into that one! Will you keep the car for 4 years? doubt it ! So when you change, the debt goes up again! Pay this one off 1st. The 197 is good but not doubling the debt good. £50 a month isnt that much extra. But put that away each month for the rest of the loan term on this car and at the end you'll have a pot of money and buy what you want!
Or................
You could just buy it cos they are good cars.
Its up to you mate, but when its soooo close to being possible you tend to let your heart rule your mind

Wait for all the problems to be ironed out, loads at present.

Pick up a used one in the summer & let someone else take the hit value wise.

The cups will be around 11/12K soon;)

Personally from what I can see is your exchanging your car and parting with 9k for a car that will heavily depreciate in a years time?

I love the R27 but its not far from the realms of r26 money so thats where i'd hedge my bets to be fair.

Can't you get a better deal from some of the sales guys on the Renaultsport website?
