sent my cup to sunwin renault in derby for some warrenty work today. phoned them last week to tell them the o/s/r shocker was leaking and that the passenger seat wouldnt fold forward[broken cable]. they called me at dinner to tell me that they had found the faults that i had told them about but didnt have the parts in stock, and that because i had lowered the car they wouldnt replace the shocker as i had voided the warrenty and they wanted £80 odd quid to replace it!, gobsmacked i calmly reminded them that it was a CUP and thus had CUP SUSPENSION!. they went quite and said they would discuss this with me when i come to pick it up. needless to say all the parts will now be fitted under warrenty.

are all the main dealers this bad???

I thought so until recently.

Last week took mine to Driveline in Ashford, Kent, theve sorted the mount and exhaust, spotted the cracked headlamp washer that Id missed and done some other adjustments all under warrenty.

They even said if I bring in the receipt for my additional charge (to cover the courtesy car) they would refund it.

The car was even cleaned! and when I asked about the service he knew the 2 points most others get wrong, 1 that it was a 12k service, the other that the oil is 5/40.

So luckily there are some good Renault dealers out there.

Ive had some messing around in Derby too - eventually went to Ilkeston - is a service centre only and they were much more helpful!
Might be worth giving them a go...

I got told that the knocking coming from the front of my Cup was "the limited slip diff. They all do it. It proves its working"

Then had a stand up argument with the service manager who eventually said "sir we are the experts not you"

I told them to check the parts lists/diagrams. Came back 40 minutes later looking a bit embarassed and said "looks like you have taught us something"

Idiots...

Sometimes the dealers do surprise you with either really poor service or actually really good service.

I took mine in for its first service and they replaced the washer jets coz they were slightly clogged. They just told me once it was done, thought its showed some initiative.

Other time it goes in to have the seat checked. Woman checks it over, sees that its perfect condition and cleaner than their new cars and goes I assume you dont want us to clean it. I said no not realising that by the time i got it back it was caked in bird crap!!! Quite shocking how they let cars go out of the garage in worse condition than when it went in.
