Decent road pads

Car  PH2 172
I have some Brembo HCs that im about to fit and would like some advice on some pads to go with them. Im not going to be tracking my car so i wont need any of the ferodo jobbies and wouldnt even say im a "spirited" driver, only the odd time!

Just something with decent performance, better than standard that i can rely on

Surely OE will be fine if you aren't tracking it? You shouldn't be getting brake fade on the road and the stopping power is perfectly decent. Otherwise, I believe the main alternatives are green stuff or something similar but they seem to have a pretty bad rep (I've not used them though).

yea ive been reading about the greenstuff, ment to be terrible, although a few say they are fine and nothings gone wrong. I have a feeling people would be expecting too much from them using them as fastroad pads

I'd love to say DS2500, but it depends if you can live with the occasional squeak. Mine in the Vee are fantastic, and can pull my face off.

haha ive heard alot about them being able to pull your face off. My mates just got a set of DS2500's for his mk1 focus RS, should be awesome on that thing.

Are they really worth the money though?

id avoid greens like the plague. they were on mine when i bought it and were horrible. im pretty sure oe would have been better.

depends if your up for spending the money and how you drive, but ds's are well reccomended on here.

I should point out that I run DS2500s, and they are awesome, but I track my car. If I didn't I'd probably just use OE to be honest. I've got 4 trackdays and 5,000 road miles or so out of them, if that's helpful, but they do squeak a bit!

Not much point in DS2500s or any other race pads if you don't track the car. Stick with standard they're more than enough 99.9% of the time.

ok thanks for the help guys, anyone know anywhere to get some standard pads without paying renaults silly prices?

I got ds2500 with the same discs, brembo HC, braided hoses and red stuff with standard discs at the rear. I am very pleased, but it's not the cheaper choice. Honestly I think some standard renault sport rotors would be as good with the same pads.

It's a fast road setup, very good on steep roads, but for the track i'd go for something more extreme.

They're a quieter and less squeaky than the ds2500 i had on the mini with standard discs...i don't know if it's the car noisier (uhm...supersprint exhaust on the mini, shouldn't be the case but i don't have that car anymore), the pad compound a bit different, or the discs.

Ferodo Premier are a good alternative to stock pads, if they're cheaper go for them, but don't expect better performance, they could be even worse in spirited driving.

used greens on mine and they've been great. Better than oe to me and have lasted absolutly ages.

Am going to try yellows next.

ds2500 are the daddy, and there not actually road legal. I dont actually find them too squeaky at all to be honest

Im just about to fit HCs and Mintex 1144s - cheaper than DS2500 and not far off (by all accounts) in performance terms either.

Anyone running ferodo premier pads? noticed they are cheaper than standard from auto nation

I have them, wanted OE pads but didn't want to pay s**t load for them, I got them pretty cheap and I have no complaints. Fitted them with HC's and they pull me up very well. I only use them on the the road and never had any fade.

Aren't they?! It's the DS3000's that aren't road legal...

Correct!

Ferodo says that DS2500 may be used on the street and DS3000 is race only. I use DS3000 on road and they hardly squeak at all once they are run in.

Ferodo pads are great have tested a lot of different pads and the Ferodos are by far the best. For all of you who think they are expensive, think again! You can not compare these to EBC crap. A fair comparison would be Pagid and compared to them they are cheap.

If I didnt use my car on track Id go for OE, premier or what ever.
