Decided to build a 172 turbo.

Hi guys I'm looking for sum input on building a 172 turbo I was looking at sticking with throttle bodies at first but as the engine is going to be coming out any way for its respray I thought I might as well go the whole hog and turbo it. I am looking at doing a mix match with the turbo parts instead of laying out on a turbo kit that in sum cases don't have the best of feedback on sum of them. So if any body can point me in the right directions for parts etc to build the kit with that would be great hope to hear back from you guys cheers.

I do have a used gt28rs for you if you'd like.

when doing on a budget i'd suggest finding some megane pistons and aim for 280 or some.
Not thát much more expensive than low boost but alot more fun!

At 280 the standard pistons are fine IME, its the rods you will have issue with first.
Worth decompressing it with a thicker headgasket though for that power.

all valid points, but its simpler to achieve the same with a thicker gasket, and you will have to buy a new gasket anyway if changing the pistons.

Hi thanks everyone for the feedback I'm not sure what sort of bhp I'm looking I don't want to go to silly in a way I'm looking to source the component parts separately maybe or if any of you guys have any parts for sale etc. As for the budget it's not something I have set in stone yet really.

want it to work on standard clutch or prepared to swap that out too?

In all honesty that's an option I'm pretty much open to I think it maybe worth while with one in fairness as we all know the gearboxes are never the best lol
