Delivery of new Cup

Hello all!!

This is my first posting in this site!

I am taking delivery of a new Cup in about a weeks time! cannot wait!!! Can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding the first 500/1000 miles? as in how the car should be driven from new? Any replies most welcome.

Thanks a lot

Hi and Welcome to Cliosport.

I took delivery of my Cup last month. For the first 500 miles, i didnt exceed 3.5/4000rpm....much. After that i just ragged it. No problems 4000 miles down the line, and has really loosened up now. Expect some little rattles, but its just normal. I have a couple now but just needs tightening up. But most importantly enjoy your car...i definately have!!

Since i got the car, ive run it on 95 ron fuel. Last night, after 4k, i started to use 98 ron fuel. I can definately say it makes a hell of a difference. The car runs a lot smoother, and climbs the revs a lot better.

Two thoughts on this one, rag it from day one itll be faster just not last as long, keep it under 4k for first 625 miles (1000km) and itll last longer, and take longer to seatle in.

You choice really.

I ran mine in as the manual suggests and have only ever run it on Optimax or SUL on the two occasions I couldnt find a Shell station.

Run it in mate, I did...

The book says no more than 3500rpm (or 80mph) for the first 1000km (625 miles) and I stuck to this.

At York Dragway last weekend with only 2700 miles on the clock I ran the 1/4 mile in 14.5secs @ 94mph, so this cr@p about ragging them from new makes them quicker than if you run them in is just not true!

Mine is always run on Optimax, unless I cant actually get it and they are not meant to run on normal 95 unleaded.

Thanks for all the replies!

I think I will take Rich Ds advice and run it in slowly! Looking to keep the car for sometime! Cannot wait to pass the 1000k mark and give it some welly. Hopefully I will not have to much bother with it, a little concerned about l the problems that other cup owners have had!

Anyone else on this site who has a cup that lives in Central Scotland? Only even seen 1 other on ther road?

Good things come to those that wait...

I am also planning to keep my Cup for a while, so I didnt wanna just kick its t!ts on from day one and then have problems in later life.
