Dephaser pully and used car warranty

  Clio 182
Has anyone ever had their dephaser pully replaced under used car warranty? I purchased a healthy 182 from a dealer and the belts were changed as part of the deal. When I picked it up the dephaser was shot. The car's got 3 months warranty with warrantywise, gold cover. I'm not sure wether the dephaser will be covered. Is a noisy dephaser classed as a failed part? Or is it a case of the mechanic who changed the belts being responsible?
Cheers for any advice.

If it was Inferno, I would have sworn you had bought my car lol

You should have got a warranty book detailing any exclusions... worth a flick through that. Who's the warranty with? AA warranties are pretty good.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
I would take it to a specialist & quote it up- try and gear it up around should have been replaced on cambelt service- also if the dephaser wasnt flushed during the cambelt change then the reason its shot could well be the person changing the belts- although that will be hard to prove-

An aftermarket warranty will normally only cover a "failed" componant, ie they need to see something thats broke. And wont replace a componant because of a noise.
I would push them on the idea that the dephaser has failed internally, and could possibly fail further and take the cambelt at anytime. Therefore requiring an engine rebuild, which they wont want to be paying for. So hopefully replacing the dephaser.

Worth a shot imo.
