Desktop Monitors

Hey!

I'm after a new desktop monitor after a fly somehow managed to die between the backlight and panel of my 17" LCD iiyama.

I fancy a 19" widescreen but dont really want to spend more than £100 and anything over 19" would be too big for my room.

What do you think of the following?

I've had the iiyama for 5 years now and its been spot on really (no dead pixels etc). Shame I'm going to have to replace it but the fly has got to go :(!!!

Cheers

Personally I would only consider a 20", as you lose desktop area from a 17" screen going to a 19" widescreen, but it's your call.

Thanks for the info mate. Is the lose massive?

cant u get red of the fly? then its win win.

No its sealed mate (tried taking it apart last night) so dont stand a chance :(

  Better than yours. C*nt.

1310720 versus 1296000 = 2-3% loss, but the big one is you're losing 12% of the height of your desktop area - meaning you're doing a lot more scrolling.

I personally hated it - I'd sooner have a square 19" at 1280x1024 than a widescreen at 1440x900, but as I said it's all down to preference - for example if it's mainly for watching TV and movies on your screen then it's better to have the widescreen.

20" Widescreen really is best of both worlds, as they're 1680x1050 - so significantly wider than the 17", and marginally taller.

You like your 5 year old Iiyama, so then why not go for a new one?

They get really good write ups and 19'' ones are mega cheap.
