Detailing/cleaning advice needed...

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
Not really into cleaning the car, but the S2000 I bought could be tidier bodywork wise and it's bugging me now.

Wheels are just ruined really - they've been curbed a bit, and they've coroded/got brake dust permanently embedded in them. Also got hte surface flaking off on two of them - going to get them refurbed in next few months when money allows - maybe anthracite.

With body work I've got a lot of minor little scratches - I've washed/de-tar'd/de-bugged it all this weekend and looks a lot better. Brought out the scratches though - got some Meguiars Ultimate Compund - is this stuff any good for improving the scratches/making them less visible? I don't have a machine polisher....

Bought some Meguiars hard wax - think called cleaning wax - was planning to have a go at the bodywork with this after - is this wax pretty good? Got talked into buying it in the car shop while I was away yesterday.

Cheers and any advice would be useful on how best to apply stuff.

Detailing section and keep it away from the normal people that simply stick it in a car wash? I'd heard to wax properly using the skin from the inner thigh of a 14 year old peruvian virgin was best.

I parked next to a White FRS in manc airport last week, and it was filthy, I was going to write "you are my hero" in the grime.

Best bet would be to use Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

This contains fillers and will help "hide" the swirls. You will struggle to remove them without a machine polisher.

Sorry, didn't realise there was a detailing section!

Paint doesn't seem very swirly - it's a light metallic blue colour which seems to help on that front. Just little scratches on it, and 4 tiny car park type dings. Not sure there is much I can do about those cheaply as prob need to be rolled out from the back, but think the car is double skinned. Hmmn.

Going to give the detailer a go and see how that comes out, might touch up the stone chips on the front first though....all plans for next weekend now, it's started raining. Damn.

Will then give the wax a go and see what it comes out like.

I'm sure that there will be swirling, if how you describe the general condition of the paintwork is anything to go by. The best way to check is to shine a light on the bodywork, you should see faint swirling better underneath it.

As said, if you'e doing it by hand then AG Super Resin Polish is your friend. It won't remove swirls and light scratches, but it will fill them so they'll be less obvious.
