Dia. of normal air box inlet...

  RB 182
Just a quick question as i got a lift into work and my clio is at home :(..

What O/D Dia. is the air feed to a standard Clio 182 air box? Im getting a trumpet made to pipe the cold air from the lower front grille like the viper kit. I was going to purchase one of the Viper trumpets off ebay but pondering over the fact that alot of dirt and leaves can get into the filter... being that time of year ;) Any of you Induction Guys and Gals get problems with this or is it me just assuming?

So... Getting some of the CNC's blokes to machine me a similar trumpet out of Ali but with a internal groove for a wire mesh filter  I guess its easier to scrape off any mess than undo the air box every now and again....

Oh one last thing... The viper has two O/D sizes as the front inlet is bigger and then tapered down to the outlet size…. Would this matter with it being a standard cold air intake?

Sorry for all the questions…

The inlet to the air filter box is oval - 77 x 55. I intend to modify it to accept a 75 mm aluminium pipe fed by a flexible hose going down to a bell mouth where the accoustic valve used to be. Just trying to source some soft condition tube at a sensible price.

What would this do? I have seen alot on the accoustic valve on here but not sure what to do. just going to leave it for now I think...

So are you going to plug the oval inlet and just use the accoustic valve? I was thinking of machining a larger hole and making a custom inlet to fix onto the air box, That way I can choose my own size tubing :D. Any idea if tube size will effect the air box? ie, too much or little air?

No the set up that I have described is to replace the accoustic valve pipework - I will leave the secondary intake, which iirc is about 64mm, in place. Nor am I planning to take a sealed feed from where the foglight is, as there will be different pressure heads in each gear, even for the same rpm and load. Sometimes it is possible to experience stagnation, which actually reduces the airflow.
All that I am trying to do is to provide a slightly less restrictive cold air feed.
