Different standard 172 exhausts...

Must have been asked before and have had a search but couldn't find anything.

I always thought Renault changed the exhaust on the 172's between the ph1 and ph2. But I bought a centre section that came off an early ph1 that won't fit my 2001 y reg ph1.

I've now got an exhaust off a ph2, will that fit??

Early 172mk1s had a shorter cat (the twin chamber type with 1 sensor hole) so it has a longer centre section, the difference is about an inch and a half. As yours is a later 172mk1 it will have 2 sensor holes on the cat making it longer using the same shorter centre section as a ph2.

Is there more tolerance with aftermarket exhausts? They have longer hangers don't they?

I suppose it's easy enough to move the hangers, if they are fixed ones. Or can you get a spacer for inbetween the cat and the exhaust?

yeah ive not got much experiance with anything other than k-tec systems but they just have hangers that go around the box and bolt up so you can move them, im assuming the others are the same!

PM W17GLE. He has fitted a 172 Cup exhaust to his ph1 172. Its a bit shorter but fits fine.
