Different Tyres - Same Axle?

  Hondata'd EP3 Type R
Hi, When I bought my car it had 4x Pirelli P Zero's HOWEVER, 3 are Identical P-Zero Nero's and the Other is a P Zero Rosso Asymmetrical.

Now I have 3 tyres with this tread pattern:

and 1 with this tread pattern

Another thing is the tyre wall is different, which annoys me.

Now I have the matching pair on the front, with around 3mm of Tread on, The rear left one also matches the front and has around 6mm. The Asymmetrical odd one out is pretty much brand new and has around 7mm on. The car has service history for 4 P-Zero Nero's at @ a cost over £600 (unsure why the previous owner changed from Bridgestones), but I am guessing fairly soon into their life, the rear one suffered a puncture/slashed and was replaced, cause there is another reciept a few weeks later for another P-Zero, that is the Asymmetrical job.

Now, I hate having un matching tyres, but I do agree it is best to have the 2 odd ones on the rear. My idea is to switch the fronts with the rears, thus giving me more life on the fronts, and wear the different one down faster, and then stick 4x Falken 412's on it when needed.

But my friend said having 2 un matching tyres on 1 axle is bad enough, let alone on the front of a performance hatch back?

What do you think?

Thanks

Just get it changed mate, Get a decent part worn on eBay & then stick your old tyre on there.

I bought a clio with 4 different tyres on! It drove so bad and you could never judge what wheel would do next.

It drives fine as it is on the back, just wondering if it would make a difference on the front.

I would love to get it changed, but I cant see me getting a decent Part Worn matching P Zero Nero lol, and new the are £150ish each! They are a fairly rare size only a CTR and a Mini Cooper S Runs 205/45/17 I believe?

I find it bizare the previous owner accepted this, unless the matching 3 were discontinued (Happened with the original Type R Bridgstones)

Im not sure this is in the right place, can a mod move it?

I think you are making a big deal over some rubber. If I was you I would just run the tyres that you have got as it doesnt matter like that.

yes tyres should be the same but if you cannot afford them yet it doesnt matter.

3mm of thread? wont last long anyway :S

mg zs 180
mg zr 160
subaru impreza with Prodrive Performance Pack (like RB5's)

...All have the same tyre size as you. :rasp:

Put it on the front and then when the 3mm nero wears out, get two new of whatever you want and sell the rosso for £20 on ebay with 5mm tread remaining. Simples!

Yea Ill be getting new ones for the front payday, I expected an advisory on the MOT but he said theres a few K in them. The one that doesnt match is almost brand new lol.

Affording them isnt the issue, it just bugs me thats all lol

Edit: Ben, arent these the correct ones in standard size?
