HAHA! They said as long as it is just a backbox and not a system designed to increase bhp then the monthly paymants will not be increased.........

  No more clio's for me!
Result!!!

Make sure get that in writting mate, don't won't them backing out with 'we never told you that' if you had to make a claim! ;)

Im with CIS. Even with about 9-10k of mostly cosmetic mods my insurance never went up.

Even the exhaust and filter didnt increase it. They said as long as nothing is done to make it faster you wont get an increase in price.

When i declared the suspension, filter and exhaust they asked me "Do they make the car faster" i said "No, thier just to make it look nice". they said "ok fine".

Even the 3k paint job didnt increase the price. Result.

Give them a try if your into modding.

I phoned them because i wanted to put apex 40 mm spring on and was told i had to be 25 for them to insure me what a joke

Same happened to me last year mate, but i had already fitted them! I drove about for 8months with 'em on because i didn't want to lose my years NCB (now have 5 ;) ). Soon as i could move i did...mods all declared now.

  RS Clio 200
i fell into that trap with privelidge... declared my powerflow and they told me where to go.

To be honest though you should really have read the T&C's before modding...wish i had, certainly learnt from that one.

costs me about £80/year to declare the prospeed (non-decatted) on the 182 with D/L - but when I rang round last time, they were still a good £300 below anywhere else (a lot of places wouldn't quote - which is ridiculous!). Car is actually the wifes, all in her name, but we're both 29 with a load of NCB in a reasonable post-code...

Silly thing is, that will add no power, but to revo the LCR (+50BHP) will only be £100 extra - can't really work that one out!

Seems a lot of insurers are really not keen on modding newer cars at all...

Just because they charge extra for mods doesnt make them tossers. Some insurance companies dont like mods. I was with them for years without problem. They were brilliant when we had to make a claim.
Find another insurance company that doesnt mind mods like others have suggested.

You know in the case of a total loss the insurance company will pay you the market value.

a 3 grand paint job will decrease this as it is down to taste, so they wont argue with that.

£500 worth of coilovers, verses £800 of manufacture rrp for suspension means you owe the insurer £300.

Just because you arent paying it doesnt mean you are getting a good deal.

The small print needs to be read thoroughy. This above is what i have deduced from my own.

I would like to find a policy that will replace your car exactly as you lost it, or that pays exactly what the car would cost to replace including mods.
