Finally collected the car tonight just before closing time at the dealership. Unfortunately in the rush to get things signed and checking out some other details I completely forgot to double check that the car was indeed full UK spec as assured by the salesman earlier this week. It was only after having left the garage that I remembered. On checking guess what? No locking wheel nuts, window etchings or alarm. To say I'm annoyed is an understatement. I'll be back to them first thing tomorrow morning as the salesman has clearly lied regarding the car meeting UK spec. Any advice on how best to handle this?
Obviously the most important thing for me is to have a Cat1 alarm fitted. They can either install this for me or cover the cost of £250 for me to have this fitted.
Thanks
P.S. The car itself is excellent.

Macca172 said:I've lost it with this thread, it was confirmed to be UK Spec, then it wasn't, then it was.. now you've picked it up and it isn't! I think you'll struggle under law to make the garage pay for anything, now you've handed your cash over and collected the car it would appear that a binding contract has effectively been wrapped up. The only way a garage will pay for an alarm is out of 'good faith'. Enjoy it anyway!
sneeks said:I chatted with Trading Standards this morning and they say I'm fully covered by law (Sale of Goods Act). The garage have 3 options (I am able to demand any of these 3).
1. Bring the car to UK Spec
2. Replace the car like for like but with a UK model and not an import
3. Refund me the full amount
I'm to contact Trading Standards to arrange legal action if the garage refuse to do anything.
