Display & Stalk Controls On The Clio

Ive seen many many topics covered about this so im pulling all the information covered in the topics into one:

Sony:

Autoleads: http://www.autoleads.co.ukwww.autoleads.co.uk do adapters for the stalk but none for the display, currenty trying to get one for stalk and display that works, rip speed do them for £30 but you have to remove your dash to fit it.

Connects2: http://www.connects2.co.ukwww.connects2.co.uk do adapters for the stalk and display, the only lead that works with the display, ripspeed sell them for £60. Normaly have to be ordered in i was told, also the easiest to fit. No removing dash, it simply uses the Remote Port, Power & CD Changer Controls.

Audiolinx: http://www.audiolinx.co.ukwww.audiolinx.co.uk do adapters for the stalk and display, ive never heard anything about them but http://www.incardiscount.co.ukhttp://www.incardiscount.co.uk stock them for £60.

Kenwood:

Justkenwood: http://www.justkenwood.co.ukwww.justkenwood.co.uk stock the adapter for the stalk control only, very much alike the autoleads one for fitment and controls.

Alpine:

MCS Direct: http://www.mcs-direct.co.ukwww.mcs-direct.co.uk stock the adapter for the stalk control only, Its under Alpine|Accessors, in 2 parts. You need the control unit and a interface, cheaper then ordering it from Halfords. Again fitment is like the Kenwood and Autoleads Sony adapters. Shame alpine only offer stalk control only.

Blaupunkt:

Blue Spot: http://www.bluespot.co.ukwww.bluespot.co.uk stock the adapter for the stalk control only, no display. £44 and fits like the Alpine, Kenwood & Sony Autoleads ones.

If anyone one has anything to add or if ive missed anything please add to it.

Ive fitted my new ICE now, i plan a subwoofer soon

Sony CDX-MP40 MP3/CD Head Unit £125 (MCS Direct)

Connects2 DRNS001 £59.99 (Halfords) (Cheaper from http://www.incarexpress.comhttp://www.incarexpress.com but i had already ordered mine from Halfords)

Sony XS-F1323 Rear 5" Speakers £15.61 (MCS Direct)

Im leave the front speakers for the now because im happy with them + removing the dash isnt too easy as i found out

It sounds much better being powered off the new Sony headunit then the old Philips CD/Radio, dont think i will need an amp because it goes loud enough for me

Yea, when i was searching this forum for all the infomation i must have spent over 2 hours if not more and i still keep looking for other information on the net about it.

Can a mod put this in a FAQ for me, i would be greatful.

Another thing to add is with the display when using the Connects2 lead when playing MP3s on my CDX-MP40 it does not display the ID3 tag, it just gives the number IE T 40 for example.

Its fine with CD Text, even scrolls across if you get the Sony HU enabled to (On mine it was by holding SEL and a number, i think it was 3)

VDO Dayton also have one for their never models - only for the stalk remote.

To fit the alpine one u need to remove the dash and unplug the RED lead and plug the RED Alpine one in.

Best bet is checking with your local Ripspeed store as there have a book on display with the autoleads stuff, take notes on the 2 parts it needs and then go and ring MCS up and order it for around £50.

It has 2 parts:

Interface (Converts the clio to the remote)

Remote (Allows the Alpine HU to control the Interface)
