Ive got a mk2 172, not had it that long but want to change the oil. Is it possible to do this without raising the car ? If the car does need to be raised is there anything i can buy like ramps or axle stands etc.

Just did my valver for the first time and in my eyes, it is better to go to National Tyres or somewhere similar as they do it for less than the parts cost. Duckhams QXR semi is 20 quid inc filter and the oil costs that by itself. Their synthetic is called BP 7000 and is 25 quid.

Always used National Tyres and only did it myself to use forte flush and top end treatment and some Castrol RS I got cheap. Think some places use Mobil 1 for 30 quid mark. Again cheaper than doing it yourself.

on the 172 you dont have to lift the car off the ground to change the oil

good luck with the filter though!!!!!

when i did my 182 i just drove the car on to a couple of bricks so it was high enough to take the sump guard off and get to the sump plug. (dont know where to jack the car up with a trolly jack)

i didnt find getting to the filter too bad after the injector cover and engine cover was removed

ramps are a bugger had smoke coming from clutch after a few attempts at getting the car on them, the old citroen ax! Dont like the look of the clio though seems too much like hard work trying to get at that filter, knowing me id wreck somert, probably my knuckles
