Managed to sort the central locking issue out today, abit of contact cleaner on the plug and clean. Also sorted the window as it wasnt fully closing to the top of the seal.

I was going to sort the exhaust out as its currently not bolted to manifold flange but cba 😂.

Trying to build the interior up so its abit more bearable over winter to drive but missing alot ! In need of an interior carpet and the plastic trim that runs along the skirts. Might have to visit scrapyard.

20220919_134040.jpg

Door trims all fitted.

20220919_164538.jpg

Rear doorcards half fitted, need to find bolts for them but may end up removing. Definitely need a carpet for winter.
20220919_164555.jpg

Gearstick surround fitted and quick release boss. Still not fitted the new wheel until car is ready.

I remember this being a cnut with 2 hands but with 1and a Jeremy beadle it was tough.
20220921_183705.jpg

But like everything in life don't give up and follow your dreams 😂.
20220921_183710.jpg

All tucked up, still havent decided whether i'm going to fit this carbon unit from my red clio or go full asbo with a fatty system as imagine thats louder 🤔.

Not alot done tonight ! Mounted the epas ecu in place. Awaiting cable lugs as they didn't get posted with the cable !

A little more done today, didnt really have a plan what to do.

Removed the suspension from my track car so i can fit it to this car, going to get the springs powder coated while they are off as after 10 years of outdoors has made thrm anit scabby.
20220924_144134.jpg
20220924_144152.jpg

Also decided that i would steal the alloys from the red clio as i have a puncture on the 182 alloys and plan to get them refurbished at some point.

20220924_152255.jpg

Quick wash with water and fairy liquid, didnt have my cleaning products with me.

20220924_164424.jpg

Hopefully the car is waterproof now 😂.

Hoping to start wiring the epas in tommorow. I dont have the crimpers for the mains cable or 2 working hands to crimp 😂.

  clio 172
Still have the traction control symbol on the dash after fitting the squib off my red car. I could try fitting the one from red car along with steering angle sensor to see if it goes off but in my head im thinking its needs setting up on clip which i don't have.
20220927_170444.jpg

Stock Dinner plate fitted for now 🤣
20220927_172238.jpg

Car has become a storage unit. Insurance starts on 1st so will look to getting it motd.
20220927_184504.jpg

  clio 172
Exhaust centre bracket mount hole needs repairing.
Rear cage plates need modifying to suit my cage.
Cage paint
Harnesses to be fitted
Fit wipers
Fir steering wheel
Install cd player
Install horn
Install carpet and rear boot mat
Install headliner
source any missing interior pieces
Cambelt, dephaser water pump and Group N timing.
Efi Mapping

  clio 172
Not alot of jobs i can box off at the moment. The car needs to have the strengthening plates extended for my cage and then the cage needs painting so seat will have to come out and interior.

Managed to reinstall the uch module back how it was from the factory as its just been left dangling 🙃

20220928_172107.jpg

The 182 alloy wheels needed to be removed and the OZ ultraleggra's fitted as the tyres are almost New so good for the mot. Toyo proxy T1r's i think and dont recall these being so good in the wet.

20220928_181605.jpg

Last service for this jack, had it over 10 years and needs a service to see if its fixable or not !
20220928_181618.jpg

Brembo Max drilled discs and some standard pads for winter. Looking forward to having some fun in front wheel drive as everything i drive is rear wheel fun.

Any suggestions for bullet colours ?

Looks class in white, renault missed a trick not doing them that colour originally.

Regarding asr light, can turn it off with clip if needs be. I disconnected the yaw sensor on the trophy so the asr does not cut in.

Yeah i don't have clip but was just wondering how i go about it. Just annoying having things on the dash. Ideally wanted it functional .

Went to my Parents for dinner so did a little after work.

First thing bonnet off ! Need a bloody bonnet stand ! Can see me getting a standard bonnet fitted in the future since the car has changed direction.
20220929_170707.jpg

20220929_170717.jpg

Bumper was next to be removed! Going to fit some quick release as i removed all the plastic that sits behind the bumper.
20220929_171017.jpg

Looks better without a bonnet on 🤔
20220929_171039.jpg

First job was refit the horn since i found it amongst my spairs 🤣
20220929_173007.jpg

Also needed to fill the new radiator with coolant, didnt have any renault alien green left so had to put the pinky purple stuff in.
20220929_174351.jpg

So my sidelights were odd and i found a set of mtec bulbs in packaging which were the correct type so i was like happy days, here is the result.

From this

20220930_174850.jpg

Emptied the spares from the boot and installed my rear seat delete mat.

Fitted 2 brand new washer pumps today as the old ones didn't work when i tried them. Had to remove the washer tubing off my old bonnet to test, ordered some from Euro's but cant collect until monday.

Hoping to get mot during nextweek if my plates arrive ! All lights are working , washer pump now works. Tyres are not far off new.

Harness fitted to drivers seat, not fitting a passenger seat yet as all will have to be removed for cage welding and then carpet fitting.

Reinstalled the washer bottle and pumps and found some tubing, just awaiting new washer jets.

Taking for tracking tommorow as its definitely on the piss abit and can't be bothered messing myself and need to get some tyres removed.
20221003_184506.jpg

Cheeky RS badge to cover the clio holes.
20221003_184905.jpg

  clio 172
So tracking didn't happen, went to get fuel and there was a noise coming from passenger side. I think the bearing is goosed !
20221004_090111.jpg

The shell had no driveshafts or an engine fitted so probably knackered from moving about or could have been knackered anyway.
20221004_100508.jpg

Started stripping down disc and hub for removal.
20221004_171431.jpg

20221004_173549.jpg

Hub coming out for new bearing.
20221004_175317.jpg

Dissappointed this needs doing but couldn't hear anything or feel anything moving it on the gravel. We will get there.

This is a great build credit to you (and with one working wrist). Also mild driveway garage envy. Time to get rid of the gravel though? I've had many a struggle working on cars on gravel. 😂

Question. The upper to lower inlet bolts, that were red. You replaced them, do you have a link to the correct bolts? I managed to snap two 👀

  clio 172
Rolling the car around without driveshafts in will kill bearings.

So probably the right call.
The car sat in his dads garage for 6 years just on wheels on the hubs and i imagine when it got painted prior to me having it it got pushed around on the hubs, was making a racket ! Will see tomorrow if all is good. Ive ordered 4 bearing as i will put fresh ones on the red one at some point.

So ive swapped hub and a driveshaft from the red clio. Still getting some form of noise but not the horrible grinding noise i was getting the other day so likely the hub that was on had a bad bearing.

Need to try figure it out as it could be something really stupid ! Somebody has mentioned is it a ph1 shaft, without taking the shafts out again and comparing if 1 is physically shorter i honestly don't know.

Just frustrating at the moment especially only having 1 working wrist !

  clio 172
Still haven't got to the bottom of the noise which possibly is driveshaft related.

Swapped Hub and shaft from red clio, hasn't totally eliminated the noise but definitely reduced it so i think the hub bearing was definitely knackered.
20221006_105131.jpg

Disc off for the 2nd time in a week.
20221006_110210.jpg

20221006_113642.jpg

Hub off ready for drivdshaft to be removed.

Gearbox oil is brandnew so wasnt letting that go to waste.

  clio 172
Took the car for wheel alignment but didn't go to plan and still have the steering wheel off centre.
20221007_092151.jpg

It appears that my trackrods are too long so couldn't wind in enough to get it straight one side so my rack probably needed centering aswell to sort it !
20221007_093902.jpg

Oh well back to the garage for some self alignment 🙄

  clio 172
Productive weekend, First job was to sort the alignment out.
20221007_175352.jpg
Removed 10mm either side of the trackrods which gave me enough adjustment to get the wheels straight.
20221007_111337.jpg

I first disconnected the rack from the column with the oem steering wheel so i had things as straight as could be an reconnected to the rack.
20221007_111333.jpg

Wasn't as bad as i thought as i could get to it from above.
20221007_130449.jpg

Oh and this arrived from Volantech.co.uk 😊
20221007_203238.jpg

  clio 172
Next up was to fit my silicone hose to my intake system, had ordered 2 pieces but only 1 arrived, the other is on back order.
20221008_104208.jpg

How it currently looks with the renault hose fitted.
20221008_103337.jpg

The red cable has been rerouted also as i just lashed it in at the time but didn't take a pic so doesn't count.

20221008_121944.jpg

Looks abit better but not finished yet !
20221008_121954.jpg

  clio 172
My Crimpers had arrived so i can finish off running the mains cabling into the car from the battery and installed the inline fuse local to the Ecu as i had a short run of cable with the original connector.
20221008_131434.jpg

My 350mm Sabelt wheel and push button unit, went for the carbon version as i do love carbon fibre.
20221008_151135.jpg

I cant use the horn as it won't fit with the quick release and the horns are connected to the push buttons but would have been nice to have the sabelt piece in the middle. Could make it fit at a later date.
20221008_183849.jpg

The finished article, need to do some miles once its mot'd to see how the seating position feels.

  clio 172
Car went for mot yesterday, it passed 😊. The car hasn't had an mot since 2013 and has spent its life in a garage since then to this day ! The last 2 years it has been in my parents garage.

Need to cover some miles in this now to see if any niggles pop up. Its booked in for cambelt, dephaser and water pump on 27th but may have to cancel as still waiting for megane pulley to arrive, its on order with renault.

Roll cage spreader plates still need extending then cage can be painted.

Winter alloys need powder coating and fitting. Kw springs need powder coating then can fit coilovers.

Interior to be fitted for winter 🥶

  clio 172
Replaced passenger rear stub axle tonight, when i took it for alignment it was out so said it could possibly be bent so ive replaced it so will see what its like when i go back for tracking and alignment.
20221011_183114.jpg

Stub axle came out on removal of bolts 🤔
20221011_183131.jpg

stub axle swapped over all bolts came out without issue bar the smaller one ! Nut didn't want to come off the last so many threads and i then rounded the head 🤬
20221011_183139.jpg

All done , lets hope this one is better !

  clio 172
Took the car back today for alignment after fitting replacement passenger side stub axle and taking 10mm of the trackrod threads.
20221012_124353.jpg

Judgement day, was my time wasted replacing the stub axle or was it a result.
20221012_124400.jpg

All good, success so happy with that. Didn't get a printout or take a picture as its only General settings until i fit my coilovers and solid top mounts !

Feels so much better having a straight wheel !

Had to pop to aldi on way back so took a pic to prove it moves 😂. Been a long time but happy its on the road and can finish it off and then get on track once cambelt and dephaser is done ! Should have done it while engine was out but want to get it fitted !
20221012_132518.jpg

Also got my tyres removed from my turini's so that i can get them powder coated.
