Do 17" alloys look 'chavy' ?

I'm looking into getting some 17" team dynamics 1.2's in Anthracite for my mk3 TCE. The only reason I'm thinking 17" is because I can't get it lowered just yet and 17" will fill the gap more but I don't want it to look 'chavy' and stupid

what do you think?

I've seen a few other mk3s with 17s on, some look good, some look chavvy, tbh though the ones that look chavvy tend to be s**t wheels with ridiculously low profile tyres. My mates just got a set of black 17" TD pro race 1.2s and they look great.

Not all 17"s look chavy. Point in case, the 197 and 200 look ok on 17"s.

1*2s on 17s look silly, the mk3 is a much bigger car so look ok.

On a mk3 they should be fine as its standard size for a sport (i know yours isnt) but on a mk2 on the other hand they would look chavy as f**k I would go for it

Hes not on about lowering it by fitting new wheels, more to fill the arch gap.

Yes but if the overall diameter of new wheel/tyre is 10mm higher, it'll raise the car off the ground and not make any difference to the arch gap

On a mk2, Fuq yes.

on a mk3, I'd say they're a must since the arches and the car itself are huge

I dunno, i think u can go either 16's or 17's with the mk3 depending on the style of the wheel. For example, piers car looked smart on 17's then i loved how sofaboy/biohazrd looked on 16's. i personally would go 16" with spacers but thats my opinion

I think that a mk3 looks fine on the right 17s.

Cant stand them on mk1/2 though based on all the ones I have seen so far.
