  ibiza cupra
i got my missis one for her KA at x mas along with a fly 10" amped sub, and the batt kept dying so i got a new batt but it still kept dying so i tested the drainage on the car and it was high, unconnected the amped sub and tested it again and it was the same so that eleiminated that. was also told that it could be the coil pack so had that replaced, still the same. we also had problems with the headunit not returning up once it had flipped down and my missis also said that when she returned to the car once the stereo was on but she had the face to it in her hand bag then was told that it was the starter motor paking up so had that done and weve just gone outside to the car not starting again checked the amp and the fu*king thing is still switched on even tho the face is not on the stereo and i know its wired up correctly as i used an ISO plug and the remote clearly says REMOTE on the wire so i know thats not the problem so ive now ripped the head unit out of the car and am on my way to bounce it off some tw*ts heat at helfrauds along with a few other things i can find off ther shelves. f**king t**ts:mad:

Thought the ripspeed part would've said enough tbh. Probably just a faulty unit though, replacement should sort it unless something was done wrong.

My ex had one and it was hit and miss if dvds or cds were going to play in it or not

The Ripspeed head unit Switch Live and Constant live are back to front, Had the same issue in mates KA with a DVD Ripspeed unit, Swapped the switched Live and Constant live round and it was fine.

Emm, if its a faulty Ripspeed unit they will replace it no problem. Explain the problem and it should be sorted. Hardly the Halfords staff's fault as they havent done anything.

Be calm and cool about it and im sure you will be given a nice new unit and will work fine.
Every time my mates have returned something which was faulty it was replaced no problem at Halfords.

Just to point out that if the unit was faulty, then it wouldn't work.....
If its wired in incorrectly, or connected using the incorrect patch lead, then battery drain could be an issue.....

I would read the owners manual and double check its correctly wired before I went back to halfords.....

Does the unit switch off with the ign???
Does the unit then switch on with the ign???
Does the unit switch on with ign off???

I've always wired mine so that they come on with the ignition on only. No ignition. no power. except for the constant trickle for the memory feed. Saves a lot of this hassle.

Some units operate on the ign, but will independantly operate without it being on also, its these units which cause batt drain if wired incorrectly....

My Becker comes on with ign and switches off with ign, but when parked up with ign off I can turn it on simply by pressing the power button....this type of unit usually carries on playing for a few seconds after the ign is switched off to give the user chance to press the power button so playback carries on uninterupted....when activated in this manner my Becker will play for 60mins, then I need to reactivate it or the unit automatically switches off....

Quite a few newer cars have stock stereo's which operate in this manner also, if your cars only a few years old try it....

Hows car now with head unit removed ?

+1

Aberdeen is a waste of time :(

A lot of them are clueless :(

Hardly the fault of the staff, surely it's down to training

I dont think people understand that they employ people for a basic crappy wage, what do people expect. No-one forces you to shop there, you just go there for convinience I wouldnt go there asking for technical advice.
