Does PS4/XBO have these features?

Hi my missus is about to leave Waitrose next week meaning I only have a little time left to use her John Lewis discount lol. We're looking to move in together this month or next and I think it's about time I got back into gaming a bit, along with getting myself a decent TV! Now I do have a PS3 atm but it's mainly used for movies and TV shows. So as an 'upgrade' I'm looking for:
  • 4oD & iPlayer
  • Ability to play movies copied over from Wi-Fi or USB
I've been out the loop for a while but I believe the XBO has the above whereas PS4 only has iPlayer, is that right? If I get a 'smart' TV it'll have some of the catch up things installed won't it, so I can probably get 4oD that way anyway... but is there TV's that play movies from USB? If not, I guess for my usage (probably 75% movies and TV shows, and 25% actual gaming) I'm better off getting an XBO?

Anything else I've not thought of? Regarding the TV I don't know what I want yet but looking something between 40-46" with a budget up to around £750.

XBO has both of those, I would recommend the XBO as it is more of a media centre over an out and out gaming console, over the PS4 but i am an Xbox fan

No doubt it will turn in to the usual Xbox vs PS arguments.

Both consoles have the Pros and Cons so get what you prefer IMO

Your smart TV will probably do the USB playback too so it would depend on what games you wanted to buy imo.

The ps4 is supposed to be getting 4od (I just use my ps3 for that If I need to)

You can stream anything to xbox from your android phone/tablet/windows pc with android emulator with an app called "skifta" , via your home wifi network. Im not sure if its still available on Playstore. But you can download the .apk easily from other sources Via your device browser.

Pretty sure it works with ps3 and x360 too.

I used to dowload torrents to my phone then play them on the tv this way.

Thanks... I don't trust streaming though. The PS3 can do that too but it always buffers or crashes out for me, even when copying a file over Wi-Fi :fearful: maybe I need to get a TV first, but haven't got enough time!
