Yeah i agree about the upgrades. Looked into them myself only for the dealer to tell me they werent available retro-fit. And... they werent available even with a new car... so the point of the is???

As standard a Cup (or 172) will rev to 7250rpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd and 7000rpm in 4th & 5th if fully warmed up, if not its restricted to 6500rpm.

With an R-Sport ECU it will rev to ~7800rpm

What RPM does the shift (Change before i expire) light comeon then? DOes it mean you have a few more revs you can squeek out of of it?

Just before the limiter... so youve got more to go...

dunno where you read that mate, the brochure on the cup i have says peak power is 172bhp at 6250rpm, peak torque is 200NM at 5400rpm

must be a different brochure mate, mine sure oesnt say that. Knowing in renault there is probably a few releases of the one brochure

With the R-Sport ECU the light comes on about 100 revs before the limiter intrudes. In second gear there is about 0.2 seconds between the light coming on and the redline being hit.

Not in the Cup brochure I have...

The rev counter may well read up to 8000rpm, but it definately does not rev that high, even with the R-Sport ECU fitted!!!

Is there actually a point to being able to rev that high? surely youre not making much power at those revs?

So its not an optimum change point light, just a warning?!?!? Sounds like a waste of time to me!
