Quick question for you guys that have the carbon skin ones. Are they just standard bullets that have a layer of carbon fibre ‘skin’ I am tempted just to do it myself it should be simple and a hell of a Load cheaper than £70

I have genuine carbon skinned ones on my megane, they're tiger sealed on because they're about £100 a pop if you can get your hands on some 😂

Yeah I'm sure they take a standard bullet, make a mould of sorts and then skin the carbon fibre into it

The lettering on these is way too "standard looking" to look as though they've laid carbon over an original, unless they're using very thin carbon on the face and then bulk the back out to reinforce it. No they're not dipped either, the back of them is raw carbon and resin like my washer blanks

God knows who made mine, I got them off eBay probably 4 years ago for about £35.

I thought as much, if they are the standard bullets skinned in carbon it should be a piece of piss to do at home with some peel ply and vacuum bags. I may buy a set of second hand bullets and give it a go

If you can find someone breaking a clio campus locally get them as they're already plain black. Failing that just buy some 1.2 ones and sand them, people want far too much money for 2.0 16v ones

Right I have decided I am going to try hydrodipping them myself.

I need 2 x 2.0 16v decals in red.

Where from??

Just send a message to somebody on ebay with a image of what you want, that's all I do if i want something I can not find

  Hi comp phase 1
Mine are from carbonskins. You can get proper full carbon ones. I went with some sort of plastic and paint that he already had and it was £60

There used be to a guy on here years ago that did lots of decals for renault sports. I can't remember his username but he sells on ebay under the name of n2grafix.
It might be worth messaging him. They were top quality and quite cheap.

Ok so...

I've had a go.

Started with the standard bullets

I removed the raised lettering with the DA sander starting with 80grit, 180, 240.
Quick scrub with a grey sctoch brite and cleaned them up.

Used adhesion promoter and then black primer. Wet and dry p800 with water to prep the surfaces so they are smooth and then coloured them up with satin black.

Cleaned a parts box out thoroughly and filled with clean water.
Ensuring theres no dust or bits floating on top of the water lay the film on the water shiney side down.
Leave for a minute to settle.
Spray the activator over the film and wait 30 seconds.
Dip your part slowly into the film at a 20°ish angle until fully submerged.
Shake the part to clear the rest of the film from the surface of the water.
Remove the part.

Next you need to wash the parts off with water, theres a slimy substance left on.
Once clean, dry them off.
At this stage I put my decals on.

Then I used our BMW clear to finish them off. Turned out nice.

Not 100% on the carbon colour being silvery but I think I might experiment with a few more including candy red carbon.

What do you guys think?
