yeah acctually i remember lol, that was AGES ago! been through 2 others since then and eventually ended up getting a custom made one by prospeed...

as for the vlc.....click this link to download the file.........

http://www.videolan.org/mirror.html...n/&file=vlc/0.8.6d/win32/vlc-0.8.6d-win32.exe

install it, just follow it through..........then you should be able to play whatever you're trying to play

Re: Dvd software/Player??

F0xy mate, I don't want to view the dvd's.

When I am downloading then saving film to dvd vista is sending it from pc to disc in windows media and not dvd format as I only have windows media and then disc will not work on a dvd player.

Am i making sense mate.

Sounds like he's trying to burn a film to DVD using media player, but it's writing it as a computer format (avi maybe?)

Re: Dvd software/Player??

You have to convert the movie file to dvd format before burning the disc. I'm not sure what (good) free software there is to convert it. I'm sure someone will be able to advise you in the morning.

I use nerovision (part of the nero package). Dead easy to use but not free :(

Re: Dvd software/Player??

Now I remember...I had Nero on my old laptop a few years back and remember seeing Nero, but never actually used it as didn't know what it done.

How much you think I will be looking @ Marky

Good evening everyone,

I'm having abit of a prob downloading with Vista and also doesn't help that I'm thick as s**t when it comes to laptop's!

The thing is yesterday I downloaded a film for the first time ever. When it saved it then went straight to Windows media player, so I'm presuming that's what format it has saved in??

I then burned it to a disc, but as it's in media form I can't view it on a dvd player, which is what I downloaded it in the first place for, what am I doing wrong?

Marky (off here), who was very helpful by the way cheers mate has said that I need some sort of burning prog i.e Nero, is this right or can someone send me in the right direction. Idiot proof directions prob best!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Mark

i suspect the film you downloaded is a .avi file.
so unless your dvd player play's avi's then you will need to convert it to dvd using software and burn it to a dvd.

I've merged your threads as tonights is identical to yesterdays and people will only start repeating advice you've already received.
