y not lol sounds like a crackin way of saving sum cheddar mash!

obviously you would drill the holes before the panel filter am thinkin oposite side to the engine. just wondering how many holes to drill now and which diameter holes would give the best va va voom

Sucks in hot air from the engine and kills power. Also lets all kind of crap in and doesnt make much of a difference to the noise either. Much better waiting and saving up the johnny cash. Check the for sale forum here, thats where I got my pipercross.

I tried it once, all it does is make your car run worse than when it is standard, plus it ends up makin you car stall when ever you release the throttle. The price of induction kits these days r cheap ne way.

Drill the holes ( The bigger you do them the larger the roar / amount of air can get in, although on a 1.4 youre going to need quite a few to make a difference to the sound) where you said and put a cold air feed to that area.

Its a much better idea than a cheap completely open IK thats going to suck in loads of hot air. Youll need to spend a lot of money on a decent shielded / closed one. At least if you drill the holes in a suitable place youre able to minimise any chance of hot air getting in. You can then top it off with a less restrictive panel filter.

You can even fabricate a hot air shield out of metal to create a little cold air fed partitioned off area.

errhh think it was fuked b 4 u started then mate, drillin a few holes away from the heat of the engines ok itll just give u the ik roar, wouldnt really affect performance tbh. but pipercross are decent and cheap anyway as stated so u could try drillin and if it dont work/u dont like it u can always change.

i have heard a few drilled boxes, the best has to be on my uncles old 2.0L fiat Tipo 16v, drilled on the cold air side with appropriate feeds, sounded AMAZING without all the drwabacks of hot air entering from every angle. Induction kits just take ait in from every angle, i lot of people disagree with this but id back you on it as long as ya do it right! Its the same principal as an induction kit, just with bette control of where the air comes from - - - cant see why the majority of ppl rate this so badly. Make sure you get a decent panel filter in the box tho :D
