Driveshaft stripped bolt

  E46M3
Hi!

While replacing the driveshaft (passenger side) on my 172 cup one of the 3 bolts that secure the boot thing in place stripped the thread. It now seems to be dripping oil lightly - just spotting a mark the size of a coin under the car after a night.

I already tried a tap but didn’t help, now got a bolt in that seems ever so slightly bigger in diameter and it is secure, but I don’t dare to put alot of Nm on it. Not sure how much it should have?

Any suggestions? Rather not have to pull the gearbox out.

Thanks,
Brian

P.s. my description seems to be a bit vague but hope you’ll know what I mean!

Pull the shaft back out and stick a timesert in the bad thread, permanent fix.
