i think my drveshafts are on there way out i cant drive round corners or try to go over a certian speed when going straight,:dapprove:
all i am getting is loud thumping/knocking when steering is over half-way
and last night sparks from the shaft on the wheel side when over 2500rpm.
i cant drive it anywhere for fear of it actually going, last nite i managed to crawl it home with only juntions and when about 2500rpm that its crunching,:dead::dead::dead:

any input would be gratefully reciieved as im kinda stuck not knowing what to do,:)

i dont understand the grinding noise or the sparking, sounds more like brake pads to me. When a CV joint goes usually a clunking/banging noise . . . but sparks . . . thats a new one

the car seems fine untill you try to turn over half-lock and when you go to like 2500rpm,
its like the shafts arent working when steering they just make really bad noises or somethings making them, maybe steering rack/collum or along them lines??
i had sparks when i was in 3rd or 4th and could see my house so i got the revs up and thats when sparks and not so much thumping noise just fast grinding,

the car 3 weeks ago has underwent gearbox and clutch change 1.6 engine with a 1.4 gearbox now this was done by a friends uncle as a homer,
other thoughts i have is that
when my gearbox went on me and was jammed/jamming could that have damaged my shafts aswell and now 3 weeks on from when the gearbox gets changed the shafts are telling me there away to f**k,

or

during the gearbox and clutch getting fixed something has been done wrong which has caused this

or

with the 1.4 gearbox running the 1.6 car 1.4 box has done damage,

there is nothing hanging down onto the floor sparking, discs and pads were done before gearbox went, driveshafts are still in place and not real movement,

last nite when this happened during a 3 point turn while crunching/grinding and thumping my car stalled and wouldnt start atall(this with the steering turned)
once i straightened up the wheels is still wouldnt start,we pushed the car back to check that it travelled freely which it did then it started again and drove, not testing the steering to much as needed to get home it was making clickings when steering was on turn with engine started,
i drove home taking every corner as wide as possible as the thought of steering to tightly could f*ck my car again,
i had slight noises comin from my feet at a few corners and when i got to 300 yard from my house i got sparks from n/s wheel side of the shaft when i sped up.

this could be anything i think
much thanks again,

could the smaller gearbox be requiring bigger/longer differnent driveshafts

i have my old clio exact same that i had for 8 days beofre getting crashed into which is a cat c write off so planning on just taking the shafts of that as i have the car for spare an the shafts are new-ish,
but im concerned about the steering of the car as it seems to lose power steering sometimes when going round a slow corner or manovering slowly anyway, maybe faulty pump as other car the cat c damage one works and worked fine

just had a proper expection with car on stands,
drivers side driveshaft isnt moving as fast as the passengers side and its making noises at the gearbox side not the wheel side as previosly mentioned,
im hoping that replacing the drivers side driveshaft is all thats needing,
if i strip the shaft and check that its the shaft and not the box thats gettin most damage then a replacement shaft will solf all problems,or will it??

?

just swapped shafts and it drove better than it did thursday night untilll i went round a left corner,

crunch crunch,
no gears now fuckin gearbox has only lasted 3 weeks f*ck!!

seems that the gearbox i had bought wasnt much use
or the fitting of the gearbox hasnt been done right
or 3 weeks of my driving has f*cked it

now i need to either put it back to the same boy who done it before to fit my 1.6 gearbox with 102k miles with my new clutch thats like a month old for another homer,
put the car into a garage and get them to fit the gearbox if i get the boy t strip out my 1.6 box but all i see is pound signs,
if my gearbox and clutch was done wrong/dodgy it surely wouldave lasted alot less that 3 weeks,
is it a f*cked box i bought or is it dodgy fitting of it??

any imput?anyone?
