Driving with no bumper

  Ph1 track 172
after reading FM-696's guide to painting (great guide btw, will be following it to the letter)
i realise im not gonig to be able to do a proper paint job on my front bumper without taking it off :(

now this leaves me with an obvious problem,
i dont need the car next week, but in case theres some kind of emergency,
i want to know what the law says about driving without a bumper,

ive been TOLD that as long as its taken off properly, and not smashed,
its still legal to drive,

but im very dubious about it, so i thought id consult the infinate knowledge of cliosport.

I suppose it would depend on the copper if you were to get stopped. It's an MOT failure for a start.

well if its an MOT failure, its a vehicle defect if you get stopped,

so £30 fine at the least,

hmm, i think ill give it a miss

Its ilegal s the car is a danger to other road users under the road traffic act and Construction and Use regulations

im not sure theyre going to believe me,

bear in mind i live in essex :rasp:

tbh, thers nothing on there thats particularly dangerous,
just the slam pannel and rad,

just hope i dont run into any emergencies

I have done it before and been pulled over by the police, To which he went over the car with a fine tooth comb and gave me a ear bashing for my side lights and my number plate font being wrong (it was cable tied to the grill bit) but didnt mention the lack of bumper and sent me on my way.

I dont see the problem myself.

there was another thread on this and as someone quite rightly said....they would rather hit a clio without a bumper than a tractor with its massive tow bar thingy at the back. i agree with him lol

did they not ask about the front bumper at all??
and what do you mean wrong??
i didnt think numberplates had to be in a set place

ive also read that, much like the backs of some trucks,
they look lethal,

one had the bar with the lights on it, sticking out the back further than any other part of it
about the same hight as my head,
10mph crash from the wrong angle and id have been decapatated!!
