Dropped valve engine pics

Well some might know I suspected that the car dropped a valve just before christmas so I began stripping the engine to see what the craic was.

Hope to have the new engine sometime in the next week, once the couriers start back working again....... such a pain in the ass time for it to happen.

Once I started stripping the block it was one problem after another, I had 3 exhaust manifold bolts round off and one hardened steel head bolt round, so what started as what should have been a couple of hours ended up taking days.

Quick reminder of what the spark plug looked like:

Then the rounded head bolt that I finally managed to cut the head off and drill through. Need to get a set of easy out drill bits.

Still no idea why it happened and also looks like the valves have bounced off all the pistons.
Quicker I get the replacement engine the better, its been weeks since the car has been driven.

Might give the bay a nice clean while the engine is out, forgot how much wiring there was in the bay, definately forgotton where most of it goes lol

Really got stuck in there! What were the symptoms prior to the failure?

Hope you get it sorted soon. Speak to Steve79 about engines, he's up your way IIRC and always seems to have one in stock

As tom mentioned try steve79 hes in galashiels(sp) or somthing, thats who i got the engine etc from..

There were literally no symptoms just happened all of a sudden when i was doing 30-40mph.
Have an engine sorted just waiting for couriers starting before getting it picked up. Lol im over in Ireland, so nobody is ever close but isn't that bad getting the engine over on a pallet, about £100 or so.
Definalty a cost I could do without at xmas

Good effort. The pistons are meant to be pocketed, obviously not in the fashion of #2 mind.
