ds2500 + braided hoses = brake fade

  172 cup
over christmas i changed the brake pads, fluid and hoses, i left the old discs on as they were only quarter worn down.

the braking was great but they lock up easily and now i have on a couple of occasions had what feels like brake fade, the first time was after getting off the motorway and after the 3rd braking zone, the brakes seriously faded.

The second time was when i took the car out after washing it, the brakes were useless.

has anyone else had problems like this?

You should get fade...We thrashed about cadwell all day on that set up and had no fade... Dot 4 fluid yeh?!

Did you check your discs after washing the car to see how rusty they were?

My Trophy if I leave it after washing it the discs get really bad surface rust that affects the breaking.

Most people fit Brembo High Carbon discs too as they can handle the heat better.

:)

Like ali said, I have had that set up all be it with brembo discs and had no performance issues at all on a track day or since, pads are due a change at 6 months old now though.

rusty discs after washing/rain will take like 200 yards to clear, so that shouldnt be an issue.

seems strange. i would check every part of the brak system. all connections etc for leaks or damage.

Did you bed the new pads in properly?

What kind of fade?

Was the pedal high and hard or long and squishy?

the pads are a major tight fit when new, we had to grind some off the ends to make them fit........ maybe they are binding? did you remove enough form the back plate? Also, the caliper sliders can stick too....

i have done over 2000 mile before i came across any problems so i dont think i have air in the pipes and the pads came out easily yesterday so i dont think they are binding

i took the anti squal shims out when i fitted them

most of the time i have a firm pedal and instant bite but when i have a problem the travel isnt excesive

when i beded the brakes in, i had instant bite and a firm pedal but i did lock the nearside wheel as it was wet and when i got home it was smoking a little :)

I have got ds2500 pads braded hoses and brembo disks and have never had any brake fade i have dun cadwell park and oulton park with no problem with them ever they do make a bit of noise when i have been out on track for moor than 20 minutes i would get your brakes check ted if i was you
