DS2500 Dust Question

  WRX
Lol Phil, not sure it's worth the initial outlay. I can get about 10 trackdays out of a set of DS2500s.
I reckon it's them not being bedded in correctly that create's problems. Anyway they're stll good for lack of dust OP.

It's worth the inital outlay when some dickhead has been holding you up in the corners because he thinks his willy is bigger than yours - so you just wait for him to brake, fly right by and brake 4 seconds later lol

yes but you are excessively heavy on the brakes, cool down laps - good idea ;)

Actually I was doing cool down laps at Oulton with the DS2500's ;)

Don't think learning my braking points on a computer game helps

Can I ask with the brake dust problem sound more like you haven't had your wheels coated right when sprayed! I have never had any problem getting dust off my wheels, the pads arnt the problem it sounds

  R26-Rs
Not this argument again, I have to brake first/longer compared to a mates Clio on RC6 so I think that's where the heat is coming from, I get a slight warp which then almost disappears after they are cold and normal driving resumes. Without appropriate cooling I think they will stay warped.

Sbridgey echo's this problem and from what i'v read he's the last to blink on the brakes and has tried various compounds so I stick to my original comment.

Your not warping disc's.. You do know the temp you'd have to get the discs to for that to happen? Its pad transfer that is passed from the pad to the disc, and the cooling lap and gentle braking removes the build up and thats why its better. I had the same issue after bedford a couple a years ago. R26, Standard Discs, DS2500. Never used DS2500 again. Stay with RC6 Or PF now.

Well there is that, as long as you don't fly into the barrier.:S

ds2500 have left rusty type marks on my wheels over the 2 years I have used them, I clean my car a lot and after a while you can't get the stains off even with iron x, plus my wheels are black annoys me every time I clean them, they are awesome pads though.

10 trackdays out of a set of ds2500, do you actually brake, I struggle to get 2 days lol

I think some of you love the medal pedal a bit too much, you HAVE to use the gearbox to slow you down to you know ;)

I worked it out to be eight trackdays and about 10k road miles. Smooth and steady, trackdays are for fun and buying pads every couple of days isn't fun.

We get 10K road miles and 100 track sessions or so out of a set of DS2500 roughly I reckon.

Thats fairly steady use though as neither of us drive like heros/idiots* trying to outbreak people on a trackday though.

*delete as you think appropriate for a trackday not a test or race day

plymcl - buy some rc6 and see how you cope ;) I've run all sorts of pads for year on all sorts of clios and all sorts of spec, the rc6 are the first to kill the wheels that have been on the car for years on all the other pads ;)

I currently have standard Renault pads, crap grooved discs, and the brakes feel a bit pants but perhaps that's because the track car brakes are pretty savage. I may try some brembo o/e pads if they are different from the ones that come out of the Renault box??

the brembo OEM pads are as good as the renault OEM pads tbh so i think you may still feel underwhelmed with them! but tbh i have done some hard runs with them and they havent faded as such, but they just dont have the bite of the DS2500s i was experiencing at oulton yesterday plus the brembos seem to produce quite a bit of dust, a lad i know runs EBC yellow stuff and they do well all round tbh, not bad on dust and good braking power when on the track but he only does about 6-8 laps at a time he has also had them for quite some time and they still have plenty of meat on them and they have fallen apart!
