Ds2500 vs pagid blue!

  172 cup, Impreza P1
For what? track or road use?

I have used both on track and the blues are far superior. Blues also should be used with Brembo Max discs to prevent the pad face from glazing.

If you're using on the road then the DS2500's would be better as they work better from cold.

Only the best bozo. If the pagid are much better than why not. Might aswell have the better pads on already for when I do hit the track

but they have said it's better to have brembo max discs (which you don't have) and you are doing mainly road use...so yeah go for pagid :S

I will be buying discs at the same time. So the maxs will be going on. Along with braided lines and dot5.1 or something

neither. Both overpriced. Pagids are good but not worth anything like the pricetag, and i hate ds2500s

Brembo max disks aare the single biggest waste of time ever created, all they do is wear out the pads faster, cost more and crack, all for twice the price of something that will last

a set of OE replacement Pagid disks and pads will kick the arse of most things for less than the price of a set of over rated pads.

For track days I would always use Mintex 1155s

Danny when I was in the other day I thought you recommended pagids to me. What did you give me a price for again. As I can't remember. And what was the price?

£105 plus fitting for OE replacement disks and pads (Pagid)
Pagid blues are over £200 a set just for pads.

And the pagid oe pads and disks are good yar? Want to be able to stop on a button

I rate them, and they've performed exceptionally on track (Bedford and Nurburgring) a number of times in a handful of cars that I've use them on

Cool might just go for this then. How much we talking all in for front disks and pads. Braided all round and dot5.1. Can't afford to do backs with Renault parts just yet.

Pagid blues do last forever though. I have used a set on 8 trackdays and a couple of thousand road miles and there is still 50% of them left. Never had any problems with Brembo Max discs cracking and if my blues have lasted that long with max discs they should last forever with OE discs. Scary from cold as said when you jump on the middle pedal.

DS2500 are ok in my opinion but do squeal like crazy once a lip has formed in them.

Never tried 1155's on the front but have a set waiting to go on my rears.

Dont use 5.1 fluid unless you are changing regularly. Use a good dot4 if your doing trackdays like motul RBF600 or similar.

Never managed to boil the stuff yet.

Thanks for the advice cupman. Really need to get my brakes sorted soon. Never mind all this talk of scary when cold. My disks and pads are scary all the time.

I don't use 5.1, I use ATE superblue which is DOT4. You're looking at about £280 all in

Oh Hai,

That was me - My cup 172. OE disks and pagid pads... 3 track days and 14 laps of the nurburgring without issue. no brake fade and danny will tell you i was not going slow.

Pagid disks too h'actually ;) and no, definitenly not slow!

Xp8's are about £180. This is my next purchase as the ds2500's are getting a little thin and fade is increasing slightly :)

^did you forget to mention CL RC5/6's or did you bang your head on something?

Lol. He uses it mainly for the road Fred, so CL's are a bit pointless really. EBC Bluestuffs for road/odd trackday, CL RC6's for track/race IN MY OPINION obviously. ;)

Naturally you and Danny both advise using the pads you guys stock which is fair, I've driven on DS2500's and didnt think much of them, especially for the price! If they were cheaper i'd possibly consider them as they are almost at the a level ground with the EBC Bluestuffs. Cant comment of the Pagid Blues, by all means if Danny wants to give me a set to review on Ollie and I's future race car then I would oblige. :)

easy to forget the fact I cherry pick every product I will or won't sell based on how it performs. I dropped Brembo sport pads like a stone as I wasn't happy with them being good enough for the money, and ds2500s are in the same boat but for even more money. They work, but not 3-4 times better to justify the 3-4 times the price over Pagid standards.

It's not about forgetting Danny, thing is every specialist will have their favourite parts that they sell. And they will always say that theirs are better than other the brands/products on the market. It's not that I don't believe what you say, just can't comment as I've never used the pads you sell. Some people will lie to sell a product and some won't, but until a customer buys them, uses them and then they can make there own decision whether there worth the money.

Hence why I have my preferences also, and what they are better/worse than. Brakes will always be a person thing anyways.

Ran a new set of ds2500s with HC disks, braided lines and ATE superblue and they didn't fade all day at Cadwell. Was given plenty of hammer as 2 of us share the car and there's some real hard braking points round that track.
