Dust issues on a clean car...

Hello geeks.

Today I washed the car (meguirs gold class, washmit) dried it by going up and down the ring road, then one coat of SRP, cup of coffee, buff off, another coat of SRP, buff off and then finally applied a coat of EGP and left it for 2 hours before buffing it off.

Proper proper chuffed with the results, but literally as I'm driving down the road, every b*****d spec of dust is sticking to the car.

Has putting on too much product turned my car into some sort of static electricity conductor???

Today i've done about 60 miles in convoy with a mate in his car and his is nowhere near as dusty as mine. :(

(Car is a Storm grey clio btw)

Is there anything I can use to prolong the 'just cleaned' look??

I know there is science involved in our water that changes day to day but i dont think it will have any effect on conductivity around the car. It could possibly be the certain products that you are using. Try using a detailing spray such as CG synthetic detailer or speed wipe which has anti static properties. Might help with your problem. Doesnt help that we've had a really dry few weeks recently. Everything is more dusty than normal, more dust about to stick to clean cars.

It's annoying, but a wipe down with an MF and spray should see it shine up again.

I feel like such a fag saying all that :dapprove:

Speed wipe? Sounds like something I use while watching Youporn.

I will look on the relavant sites now, thanks for that. :D

Is it still ok to wipe off with detailing spray and a MF if it was washed 2 or 3 days ago? I don't want to risk ruining the paint but there is a lot of yellow dust & pollen around my area.

I am not 100% sure but if its sealed and waxed i dont see a problem with it.

I would rinse with hose then use said product, might be worth a search.

So he had dirt/dust all over the car, and people are telling hum to wipe it off with a microfibre?

HELLO swirl city!

EGP and other synthetic sealants are a git when it comes to chat. On the old Monaco u found whenever using sealants I would be covered in dust a lit quicker then when using a wax like natty's blue or similar. Don't notice it as much on cool silver now though.

When my car has been dusty, ive only ever wiped down with a spray if its very light dust and its been washed the day before. I dont often do it, only when im meeting people to show mine as an example so needs a light going over. Vish, id advise you to rinse or jet first before you touch it and still check the paintwork after. Id only ever do mine if i knew it was well protected as renault paint is soft and very easy to marr.
