Eagle F1 GSD3 or Micheline PE2's?

  Datsun
Hi guys,

My front tyres are now on the wear bars so need replace pronto!

I have PE2's all round at the minute but fancy trying the F1's out. What's everyone's opinion on using different tyres front & rear (the PE2's on the back have loads of life left in them and I don't really want to waste money changing perfectly good tyres).

Anyone have any experience of F1 GSD3's on the front and PE2's at the rear?

Used to have F1's on my old car and prefered them to the PE2's that I've got now so I'm tempted to change mine to F1's when the time comes.

Mines got 4 eagle f1's on, great tyres.

always put the new ones on the back.

So change all 4 at once you reckon?

Will prob stick with the PE2's for now then and switch to something else when the rears need changing. Can't really go an extra £160 for something that doesn't really need doing.

Cheers for the advice though!

It's fine to have different tyres on, but always put the new ones on the back.

yeah, then when they wear out, you can but 2 more eagle f1's and have 4 matching tyres!

Prefer conti's or michilen's I know they are highly regarded on here but i just felt they were not as grippy as id like. They also wore very badly on the edges (after hard use)

My mate has them on his 182 currently and he doesn't like them either.

Why do you put new tyres on the rear?to wear them in?

Im in the same boat, got quoted for 2 pe2s and came to over £200 lol so gonna get some f1s as used them before and were excellent!

New tyres to the rear gives more grip on the rear and therefore if ur gonna get into trouble your more likely to get understeer (less scary) than oversteer (more scary)

New ones on the rear cos it's easier to control understeer than oversteer,
and otherwise the rear ones would never wear out.

On the subject of putting the newer tyres on the back... surely the tyre tread is the same pattern down to the illegal mark so wouldnt the older ones receive just as much road coverage as the new ones? (if you understand what i mean?)

also won the EVO tyre test... but the asemetrical F1s as they have stopped making the GSD3s[/quote]

my mate brought 4 new ones last week . must have been old stock then agian he did get them for 50 a piece

rong always have the best tread on the rear as it is the trailing wheel .its not the coverage its the amount it disperces eg waterr
