Easiest polish/wax to get rid of swirls

Before I start I'm not a great fan of polishing car and the whole 'detailing' thing. I'm looking for a quick easy to use polish that'll remove the swirls and give the car a nice shine.

In the past I've used meg's 3 stage but it takes far too long and I don't have the time! I've also tried auto glym deep gloss polish (in a white and red bottle I think?) which I found to be poor, however these products were used on a white car.

I'm now in a black car and it needs to shine otherwise it looks crap! What's the best thing to use if your short of polishing time?!

Depends what you mean by remove?

It'll need machine polished if you want to permanently remove them and that is for people with experience to do mate. Not an easy feat.

On your car/colour I would use this as a quick and easy fix... It will "fill" the swirls rather than remove them and give BG a glass like appearance. You'll be shocked at the results.

Cheap and easy fix.

Obviously your car could probably be doing with a clay and a good 2 bucket method wash before hand but if you're not that into detailing this stuff is a quick fix.

Follow it up with a decent long lasting wax to seal in the fillers. I'll have a think about a decent wax for you.

Like I said permanent removal is for a professionals job unless you want to start buying machines ect..

Will the poorboys stuff take a lot of polishing, is it easy to apply and remove? I've got a few applicator pads and some cloth's to remove excess which ive owned and hardly ever used lol

I usually blast the car with the pressure washer, bucket and sponge, then spray again and finish with a chamois.

Will the wax keep a good shine even if the car is washed once a week? I'd be happy to spend a day wax'ing it if the final result will last a few months.

Yes it will last a few months mate, the wax will keep the "fillers" in the glaze in the swirls so they appear less pronounced.

Lock the fillers in so to speak, eventually the fillers will dissapear through washing so then you will have to strip it back and re-glaze say every 3/4 months if the wax is doing it's job.

The product is so so easy to use you cannot go wrong with it, it won't mark trims and if you apply nice and thin while working the product into the paint it'll come off easily. Research on Polished Bliss' website to understand what the product does.

Bin the chamois, the chamois and the sponge is what's causing the swirls in the first place.

Drying towels how many would I need to dry the Clio? I think I'll defo purchase the Blackhole stuff as that looks like it does a great job! I understand it'll need re applying but keeping it to a minimum is good for me.

So at a minimum I should purchase the blackhole and auto glym wax?

Yes. and you only really need 1 drying towel.

Again, if you're washing with a sponge and some old shampoo then it won't last long.

Just been having a read of that site, it's really good. I'm going to start using the 2 bucket method and invest in some mitts for cleaning rather than sponges. I'm happy to spend a bit of money on the products as it'll make me use them and it's now the summer so hopefully I won't need to clean it as often.

I'd also chuck a vote in for AG ultra deep shine.

I know there aren't many fans in the detailing section of all in one products (and I am by no means in any way a detailing guru like gally, JD etc...) but for speed of application and ease of use for a novice it ticks the boxes. Can't comment on the longevity of it as it's only been on mine a week, but filled swirls nicely and gave a good shine.

Natty's is very good mate, JD used to use it all the time and you can also buy it very cheaply on PB's website with free delivery so you could order Blackhole at the same time

That is a lot easier to use than HD but with HD you get your apps and cloths as a little extra so not all bad.

I must add that was applied via machine and the nissan paint is so so so so soft. But it'll still give impressive results.

Yeah, the pad that you are using will determine the kinda cut involved. Using a pre-wax cleanser like Lime Prime on a yellow 3M pad can correct some cars due to the cut of the pad. Understand.

Don't get me wrong that GTR is not corrected but it will have removed a few swirls due to the 3m Blue pad offering a little bite.

I doubt there is softer paint out there, the GTR is a nightmare according to some detailers and black is obviously very bad so in most cases it's actually best not to do too much to the car for fear of marring further.

If it's an orbital you shouldn't do too much damage or cleacoat removal, with a rotary and no training you could end up with strike throughs. Using a rotary with cutting polishes should always be preceeded with a paint depth guage.

Next silly question. What is the difference between a rotary and orbital? I take it rotary in the right hads would produce better results?

That's a pretty good explanation.

The DAS6 Pro is the best DA machine. Funnily enough DA's are more expensive than rotary's.

What's the best way to use Blackhole with a DAS-6? Work it into the paint, as if you were correcting the panels?

Just work it in with a finishing pad, I use 3m blue until it goes kinda clear then leave for a minute then buff off.

Do quite a few passes per 18"x18" you can't go wrong though. 3 pea sized blobs then after the pad is primes you'll only need a couple of blobs.

i work with auto glym and some of ther stuff is good but for a fast and easy wax i use auto smart cherry glaze. its pink but fast and easy put on with a sponge or fiber cloth and take off with fiber cloth. easy will take me 15-20 mins i do about 45miles a day up and down the motorway and clean my car 1 a week as easy as that.

I've been using the autoglym HD wax for a year now and it really does bring out the gloss and last well too. IMO not much less than Colli 476. I've not seen it as cheap as that on ebay and think it's a bargain.

476 will not bring out the gloss sadly buddy. HD is a much better option than 476.

sorry miss typed, AG HD will bring out a high gloss.

Durability wise the HD is not far behind 476, but SOO much easier to apply and buff off
