Easy photoshop question

I've looked on google but i don't know exactly what it's called i'm trying to do.

I want to delete all the white in an image i have.

How can I do this?

Magic wand?

Use it to select all the white, then hit delete.

Yes but it selects black aswell and there are a lot of fiddly bits

I'm sure you can tell it to select a colour and sack it off

Also I don't think you should save as a Jpeg, as it won't allow the empty space. Hard to explain.

I know what you mean - I don't need the space to be empty though.

Select > colour range

Normally I just adjust the tolerance on the magic wand take's some fiddling though
