when i purchased my 172 engine the guy sed the ecu is atatched to the engine loom.but when i started taking my dash and centre console out today i noticed a silver box by my gear stick.is this the ecu?or is this somthing else?if it is the ecu are they under the bonnet on a 172?

Thats the airbag computer. The ecu is behind the battery

ahh rite thanks mate.its just that the ecu in my dads gto is exactly where that airbag computer is so i thought that might be the case in mine.thanks for that
