is there such an ecu? + also i thought once a reno ecu was used on a car it locks itself to that specific engine?

Apparently you can get them unlocked, but never heard of anyone doing this.

Dont know about the locking bit but there are ecus to buy out there.

Ebay may not be the best place to get one though,maybe a reputable firm like GDI or the likes would give you the advice you need...For all you know its out of an espace

not really looking at the mo, just browsing, and thought it sounded abit dodgy to me!!exhaust is first on the list as its dying a slow death!

reno used to sell an ecu for the 172 which gave it 190 bhp,it revved to 8200 i think but idles at 2000.You can no longer buy them new though

I had one on my 172, it was good. Tickover was about 1300rpm, performance was greatly improved. Im sure they were locked to the car they were first fitted to though.

They are, same ecu as a standard one but with a different map on it.

Once an ecu is fitted it stores the code from the car, so can no longer be used on anything else, unless you get the other bits of the car it came from it wont work.

You cant mix and match ecus, standard ones anyway.

Depends whether theres much more to be had from the engine I guess, now that Renault have squeezed an extra 10bph out of it. Maybe the are no more improvements to be made with just an ECU?
