Eibach sportline problem

  182 Trophy #333
Hi all, a couple of weeks back we fitted some sportlines to BigDaves trophy which seem to be absolutely fine, so I thought I'd get myself a set and fit them to my trophy only difference being mine has the ktr solid top mounts, anyway no worries there got them apart and back together with the springs fitted, the next day I noticed a twanging noise going lock to lock or when pulling away / braking hard, so off came the damper again thinking the spring wasn't seated, there looked to be some scoring on the underside so cleaned the spring seats right up and refitted spring and the noise went away, now a few days later the noise has returned, not sure as to why it keeps slipping any ideas??

Re: Eibacb sportline problem

Why would sportlines smash the dampers to bits?
to the OP are you sure they are seated correctly?

Yea 100% sure they're seated spot on then after a few days the noise comes back! I might stick the original springs back on and see if it still does it!

Reseated them many a time now and each time have double checked the seating to make sure its bang on, I'm gonna give it one last go today and if not I'll be going back to the standards

Dave's ones are absolutely fine from what I hear no noises at all etc but he does have standard top mounts, checked mine and gave them a good lube and they're moving freely etc so cant really work out why it keeps doing it unless I actually have a dodgy spring or the spring seat is buggered

I had a bit of clunking from mine the other day, jacked the car up and gave the spring a bit of a tug and it made a bit of a twang. Seems to be alright now, must not have been properly seated

i fitted them on my old 182 and within 6 months the car handled like a bus and the dampers leaked

Im have been just poor dampers then or knackered seals, theres hundreds of sets of eibachs in use by members on here with no problems
