Better handling than std, sits slightly lower at the front (but no change to rear) and is still maintains same level of comfort.

Absolutely loved them. Paired with an arb the car was awesome.

What's the ride like with these fitted to standard shocks?

Yesterday i swapped my 172 -40mm Apex springs for Eibach sportlines and it has transformed the car. It doesnt crash and bang if i run over a matchstick and the handling is still as sharp and if anything better on not so smooth bends as it doesnt throw you across the road as the Apex did. They soak up the bumps so much better.
The ride hight is still slightly higher than the Apex atm but i expect it to settle.
One thing i did find out was that my fronts are standard shockers but the rear struts are trophy jobbies and not very old at that.
I'm sure you will be happy with the ride and not sorry you made the choice if you go ahead.

My son has v maxx coilovers on his dci and the ride is spot on. So if you got those fitted i would stick with them.

  No car
Really? Coilies feel so stiff and EVERY single bump/hump/pot hole feels like an earthquake? should i be looking at my shocks?

I'm guessing here, but your shocks may not be shot. How low have you gone? Try taking it up say 5mm and see if that makes a difference.
