electrics problem someone help please.

  Charged Superleggera
hi

guys wondering if any one can help me because i think that i have screwed up big time. well basically i tryed to fit a spoiler on to my clio 1.2 mk2 non sport earlier on this evening and trying to wire the brake light for the spoiler i managed to screw up the electric i think. well basically as i was fiddling about with the brake light i got my brother to keep his foot on the brake so as that to see that it works. then the brake light lit up once and then the brake lights failed even the ones on the the tail lights. speedo stopped working and the onboard computer stopped working. also the temp and fuel gages went dead. the indicators work but there is no clicking sound when they are on. apart from that everything else seems to work even headlights cd and imobiliser etc.

i just hope that i have not screwed up the car's ecu or something. i feel really annoyed now because i did this and i will be more annoyed if it turns up that ive done something serious to the car:(

if anyone can help me then i will be very greatful.

cheers

Open the fuse box and take out one fuse at a time check it then replace it in same position. Look for the wire which runs through the fuse, and see if it has burned through (gap in the wire) Any discoloring of the fuse is a good indication that the fuse has blown.

This would be the first thing i would check.

+1 or if you have the handbook, look in it & locate the fuse which goes the brake lights & check it (saves routing through the whole lot)

you probably blew a fuse, check the owners manual for a fuse shared by all these components and have a look
