End Of An Era

  182cup & 172 racecar
At least you are being sensible Gem,no point in getting yourself more in the poo just for a car,and you WILL be back.

May go down the williams path, had a look about for a few, seem quite reasonably priced

Meh who knows, I may be stuck with the 'scort for a while yet!

GEM! DO NOT GET A WILLIAMS. you will be forever fixing it - and you thought your 172 was bad lol :D

Please don't start me on this "Williams always break" crap as I will go on forever and enlist Daz to help me moan. Mine was perfectly reliable.

Have you had some bad experiences with a Williams btw?

Not many problems over on Williamsclio tbh, you must have been unlucky or driven it very, very hard.

What he said is correct...Buy a gooden, look after it and maintain it and im 100% sure it will be just as reliable as more or less any hot hatch in the same band!

Absolute rubbish......I have had four Clio's now (three of them performance models and two of them not being a new type) and not one of them has been bad to me! Actually come to think of it iv never had one thats failed or even nearly failed an MOT!

As long as they are maintained and not cained from the minute you start them up to the minute you switch them off there is no problem with any of the 'Clio' performance hatches.......5's are a totally different kettle!

My Clio has just been collected by the finance company after I surrendered it back to them.

Had a tear (or 20) in my eye as it disappeared round the corner, but it's for the best!

Time to get my finances in order, had to prioritise and the car lost.

Wonder what's going to be next!

However, I would 100% have another RS Clio, without a doubt.

The most raw, fun enjoyable little car I have ever owned.

May try and save my pennies for a PH1. Who knows!

Bye Bye Cliobus. :(

That's a real shame but it sounds like you've got a level head on you and it is no doubt for the best.

Good for you imo, once you have your new RS you'll be in a much better position to enjoy your new car.

Good luck. ;)

OH hell nnnooo!!!

Gutted for you!

Ph1's are cool but getting on a bit now, but still a cost effective replacement, good luck!

and your talking out yer arse.

iv had 16v clios and williams' for the past 10 years........not 1 of them has let me down drastically. only faults iv had with em that have kept me off the road are a clutch went, a gearbox, but then, if youv ever seen me drive i am notoriously hard on boxes......and the kent cams exploded.....not the fault of reno.

gem........i may have a williams for sale cheap meself soon enuff..... ;)

FLOL bit of a contradiction there dude!!....were talking about gem here, she needs hasstle free motoring with a 4 year old daughter in tow!!

fixing clutches, boxes isnt hasstle free! williams and all hot hatches that reno have built need maintaining more so the old school hatches!!!

so no im not talking out my arse falla......;)

and back in your hole.....

You'll find a nice Phase 2 someday soon...

But getting your life in order is far more important then 'bleeding' for a car even if it's a CS.

Keep the faith!

Chaps, agree to disagree kinda hijacking here.

If someone wants a Williams they want one and same goes for a PH2.

Oh nooos. Sorry to hear this Gem! But at least you've got your priorites right.

Just stay positive about getting another! You know its the right choice. There might be another Monaco available in a couple of years ;)

My first 1.8 16v gearbox gave me 20k and lasted 97k on the car before it went.......Admitedly it was good car but still i wouldnt buy anything else and if you stick to that they arnt unreliable at all!

I would love to see how these 'unreliable' Renaults are treated prior to them breaking all the time......I bet there ones most wouldnt touch in the first place!

First dibs FTW!!

Tbf guys, I'm currently rattling round in a P Reg Ford Escort, which is not pretty, not nippy and has the most annoying metal grating sound ever.
So whatever I get is going to be an improvement!

If anyone honestly new what Jon's gearbox put up with, you would all be suprised to know it goes to the shops and back tbh.

Sad news. :(

I would have hated to have handed mine back when it had finance on it. As for going for a Ph.1 - why not? Maybe Middo will offer you first dibs! :)

I'm a little gutted for you because I think this is gorgeous.
I'm maybe gonna spray my bullets up that colour now I've seen it!

Also, what wheels are those? and what finish is on them?
What happens to your motor now? Does someone just sell it on?

I know exactly how you feel hun, I had to give my 197 back not so long ago and I'm also planning on saving some pennies for a 172 in the future :D Atleast you have something to drive about in still and from what I remember of my old escort they are slow, ugly but comfie as f*ck. Mine was like driving round on a sofa :D

  Monaco RS Clio 172

my car costs me around 300 a month without fuel.. finance @ 125 and insurance @ 160.. mostly due to me being 20 I guess :(

Thanks! If you'd have said you liked the wheels a week ago you could have had them lol, they're speedline chrono's 15's, sprayed in n0rm black ;)

Car goes to storage, gets cleaned and then auctioned off :(

It's in birmingham so anyone local, keep your eye out, you could get a bargain lol!

Or buy it back for me :D

I'm still sad, but know I've done the right thing.
